Personal Statement:
I wrote on why I want to study health law. Unfortunately, I made the decision to pursue a career in law years after finishing my undergraduate work when my father lost his life at 63 (on my 29th birthday) as a result of medical malpractice. I've had a couple of people read through it and all have agreed it conveys my true dedication to make a difference as a malpractice attorney.

GPA:
Addendum is attached to all applications explaining depression (and resulting sub-par grades) resulting from cancer battle of best friend and my unsuccessful attempt at donating stem cells resulting in her demise.

Sorry about Seton Hall. I know you said you were hoping for that.

Hey, I'm sorry to hear about Seton. Can you please tell me if you received an e-mail or you just found out through your status checker?

Well originally I had applied for the January Program, but I took the December LSAT so that got pushed back. I went complete on 1/10 there and then received the packet last Saturday.

I mean I guess Touro at this point because they offered me $$ and I live on the island. However, I am still waiting to hear on a majority of other schools (even though at most of them I feel like I need a miracle to happen), so we shall see. I think I may want get out of NY, but i feel like that means moving away for the rest of my life as I am not applying to any "T14" schools.

Thursday, January 13 2011 at 07:00 PM

and not getting into any schools close to the T14 lol.

Sounds to me like you would have a good case for reconsideration. Write/call them and ask. Especially because you were accepted into other programs. Also, that they are your first choice... blah blah blah

Pace Status Checker
Sunday, October 10 2010 at 08:00 PM

Hey girl, my status checker only says that one letter was sent out on 3/7. I got my acceptance letter today. It could be possible that yours got sent out in a separate batch and they fixed it on Status Checker? Also, award letters are supposed to be mailed separately. Maybe that's what it is? Don't worry. Wow you applied in September?! That's when I MEANT to apply but it didn't happen. You have so much patience! I finally got my apps out at the beginning of January and I can't STAND waiting for responses from schools!

I took the LSAT in Feb 2010 and decided I was done, then got restless and signed up for the Dec 2010 test. It was such a mistake though. I dropped 5 points, despite studying much harder. I guess I was having an off day. :( My apps went complete around the same time as yours, then. NYLS vs Pace... I don't even know at this point! I haven't visited Pace but I've heard it really is a beautiful campus. Good luck!!!! I know your big packet from Pace is on it's way.

WOW. I'm REALLY sorry to hear that. It has been a rough cycle with so many people going back to school it's making this process more cutthroat and unbearable than it already was. CUNY is taking forever with my application too. I see another user suggested earlier that you write a letter to Seton. I think you should do it for Pace. If anything, you living so close is probably what tipped the scales with them. They'd be missing out on potential room & board. I think you shouldn't give up - though I know I'd be so angry at them right now.

There is so much negativity out there and it can be really easy to get sucked in. I think it says a lot about your character that you're choosing to find the positive in this (in addition to reading what your PS & GPA addendum are about). I completely agree with you; happiness trumps prestige BY FAR. Good luck! Your attitude has inspired me to stop complaining for now lol.

Hey- Sorry I did not get back to you sooner, and I'm sorry to see about Pace. I really don't get these schools, and it annoys me that some of them think students with maybe an LSAT 2-3 points higher are going to relocate from other states, when ppl like us would have been happy with Pace and Hofstra. Anyway, did you attend the Touro ASD last week or going next week?

ASD
Thursday, January 13 2011 at 07:00 PM

I think I am going to end up going to the dinner next week as well. I was accepted to Southwestern last week ( it's in LA) and I have wanted to go there, it's a big change from NY, but I think I may go through with that. Touro did give me a decent amount of $, but as I'm sure you saw also, you can only keep it if you're in the top 25%--and that makes me nervous. I think I'm going to hold off on my deposit to Touro until next week, as I rather not lose out on that $.

Yeah, I have a friend that is a 1L there. We went to college together and we both have similar career paths, (Criminal law). He loves it, says it's beautiful and him and friends take weekend trips to NYC and DC. So it's in a nice location as far as that. On the other side, I have read that it is a reginonal school big time, it's still new and doesn't have many alumni spread out among the country. I wouldn't mind going to a regional school, but only if it was Stetson, which is where I live now. It stinks that I didn't get in, but I am hoping to transfer and network really hard in my 2L and 3L because this is where I plan on living. As far as applying, I only have them up because they gave me an application fee waiver and I have a friend there already. But the cost is just too great and my scores are not decent enough to get a scholarship. Hear any news about CUNY?

Thursday, September 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

I know I want to end up at Stetson. So I'm hoping to transfer. But if I happen to do awesomely great... I'll try to transfer to a top school to give myself a better chance at a job. I would like to go to FAMU for my first year because of the cost and the location. It is close and it's in state. Then I can save my money for 2L and 3L. Are you planning on working your 1L? I'm definitely going to just be a student for once in my life during 1L.

Thursday, September 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

You wouldn't choose to do 1L at CUNY because of cost? Assuming you get in.

I'm so sorry about Pace - it's def. my first choice right now! Were you ever informed that your application was going to be "re-reviewed"? I applied early like you and have watched it get reviewed three different times!! I was sent an e-mail that my application was going to be "re-reviewed" last week and my online status changed to "decision pending" after i e-mailed and said I was still interested. Does this sound familiar? I wish you the very best of luck with the rest of your cycle.

Are you still going to go tonight if the weather is bad?

Wednesday, February 02 2011 at 07:00 PM

Really? Wow that is strange - I'm sorry it wasn't in your favor :( So it said "decision pending" for you too? Or were you just told it was under re-review? If it did say "decision pending" how long before it indicated your decision had been mailed? I really hope you get into St. Johns...you applied so early it will def. help your chances!! I'll let you know what happens with Pace too :) Thanks so much for your help!!

Thursday, January 13 2011 at 07:00 PM

Definitely still thinking about it. I'm like 25 miles away, and I haven't been there yet, so I thought tonight may be a good idea. I just don't want to be the only one there.

I just got waitlisted to Pace's part time program...

Thursday, September 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

So I figured I'd send an application to CUNY. I was debating.. and then I said It's only $66 of my hard earned money, why not? It would be cool to study in the city and you can't beat the tution. So we'll see.

Thursday, September 24 2009 at 08:00 PM

I think it's a little crazy that you didn't get in to CUNY. Lame. I'm sorry to see that, but I know you said you couldn't really see yourself there anyways. I guess Touro it is?

Pace wait list
Thursday, May 26 2011 at 08:00 PM

I was on the Pace wait list since 4/22. I visited the campus, wrote them a letter of continued interest and sent an updated resume. I mailed it all on Tuesday and today my status changed to decision mailed 5/27/11. can it actually be a rejection???

Saturday, May 14 2011 at 08:00 PM

hey good luck at touro. Remember you can always transfer to st.johns or seton hall after a great year.

Saturday, May 28 2011 at 08:00 PM

Never thought about Hofstra or retaking the lsat? With your gpa and just a few points higher you could do better than touro. I improved by 18 points in barely a month so its possible. Plus touro is relatively expensive for the quality.
