Additional info & updates

Probably a little optimistic, but there's no harm in applying.

2/26 - between 6:30 and 6:45 AM I got accepted to CU Boulder and a full ride to Nebraska-Lincoln. CU Boulder is a top choice (for obvious reasons) and Lincoln is a mighty contender because I am 27, almost done with undergrad student loans, and it's FREE.99! Plus it's still well-regarded and has high employment. Now I'm listening to Sia's "Alive" and dancing sans abandon. Whatever choice I make now, I'm excited for my future!

3/2 - Got into Wisconsin a few days ago and am pretty thrilled about it, like, watch the YouTube propaganda, the school's beautiful! Obviously there's more to school than marble and trees, but I know I won't do well if I don't feel inspired every day. Living in AK, I take natural beauty for granted; I would have a hard time adjusting to a school with drab concrete conglomerate buildings and classrooms that look like church basements. Also, I got waitlisted at Notre Dame. I suppose that's halfway to 'yes', though I'm sure that gold embossed letter will be the final communique from them (dear current ND students, I am glad I could contribute toward making your school more selective).

3/3 - Oh yeah, got a bunch of money to Baylor (which was exciting for 45 seconds until I remembered that that school costs $55,000 per year. They must have to pay their profs a lot to live in Waco). But I can use Baylor to get money at Tulane, Tulane to get money at Utah or Boulder, and then one of those to get money at Wisconsin or Iowa. Gotta go from A to B, B to C, and then C to D sometimes.

3/4 - Got a "generous" package of student loans from CU Boulder. I knew that they were not very generous (as they don't have to be), but damn. The large amount of underemployed grads from the Class of '14 (which was only 165) makes me think there will be a real oversaturation crisis in 2019 after several years of increasingly large classes. Certainly too much uncertainty for me to fork over $170K from Future Me. It was nice to daydream about Colorado, it's an awesome campus with an awesome student body and faculty *(I'd put that goodbye waving girl emoji here)

3/7 - Getting down to the wire almost. I'm still waiting for financial aid information. I keep bouncing between Wisconsin and Nebraska. Prestige v. Bargain. I want to have faith enough in myself to take out a mortgage-size loan, but I don't; I'm too old to believe that I may be that top 10% graduate who goes on to conquer the legal, and then the whole, world. Nebraska's free (save for living and opportunity costs) but it's also Nebraska. I can sleep soundly at night thinking that I won't have a 2,500 monthly loan payment, but then I wake up without excitement.

3/14 - Got 75% off non-resident tuition and fees at Utah. This includes some assistantship positions though, so not free money. Pretty awesome though!

Best of luck to you my friend. There is no harm in being optimistic, especially when it has started out so well for you! Definitely going to see how you do the rest of the way. Any particular school that has a #1 spot?

Thanks! I'm between Boulder and Wisconsin right now - a little bit closer to the latter but I'm still waiting on financial information from both - so pretty anxiously getting the mail at 11 sharp every day! Good luck to you too, congrats on OSU! If I choose not to Boulder, I'll 'W' and free up the slot to help ya out!

How quickly did you receive a decision from Wash U? It's my dream school but my LSAT sucks so I'm not holding my breath. Congrats on your cycle though you have some great schools to choose from!
