Additional Information

Plan to apply for the 2008-2009 cycle, taking the LSAT soon. The studying is going to my make my life hell in the next few weeks.

I would love to hear from folks in a similar situation as me (or not) to both share my knowledge of the stressful admission process and get some advice from others. Especially those looking at similar schools.

Please feel free to leave a comment. I will update this profile quite a bit as the admission process rolls on and I have more information about the LSAT.

Updates:
10-1-08 Transcripts processed today. Got a bump from what my school reported as a 3.78, into what LSDAS reported as a 3.8. Gotta love Community College

11-11-08 The countdown to the Dec LSAT is on. I have no business applying this late in the cycle but what the hell. Hoping for a Mid-High 160, but realistically looking at a low 160. Otherwise, all LoR are out and PS is still in draft-mode.

12-7-08 Decided to postpone the LSAT and cycle until 2009-2010. Work and school simply became too stressful to adequately study for the all-important LSAT. I was losing my sanity by the end of the process, and really needed to make school a priority before my GPA drops. When I apply in 2009-2010, I should have my LSAT by June and will do many early decisions instead of coming in last in the rolling admissions process.

I'm 20 years old (grading in 3 years) and figure I probably should go find out what the world is all about. Going to continue to work at my current job ( non-profit legal work) until Sept 2009.....and figure out where to go from there.

Thanks for everyone's support. I have really received great feedback and support from this site. I will sure to keep this page updated....feel free to leave comments. Wish everyone the best with the current cycle, hopefully you get your first choice.

Cheers!

thanks! Friday, September 19th, 2008 at 12:36 am
Yea a 159 probably won't cut it at most of the places I want to be. So I'm giving it one more go. Tonight I scored a 170 on a Practice Test which bested my previous high by six points. Pretty pumped about that, and it looks like the hard work is paying off... How's your prep coming? mdd05d

I took a Kaplan classroom course the first time around and it's good to get your feet wet but I feel like if you're looking for a serious score Kaplan won't cut it.

This time around I'm using the PowerScore LG Bible and the Kaplan Mastery book for practice on specific areas of weakness.. mdd05d

Hey, sorry it took me so long to reply, my LSATs took priority to LSN :P

I finally got my LSDAS GPA... and it wasn't pretty. I went down to below a 3.0 because of NCs. That's why I added a few T2 schools on to my list. I'm hoping to make up for my GPA with my LSATs though. Thanks for the encouragement, and likewise to you. shinichi

After actually looking at your intended school list, wow we're pretty much applying to the same schools.

I'm also graduating in 3 years, but I heard that's not necessarily a good thing for adcomm :/ shinichi
Choices choices... Thursday, October 2nd, 2008 at 3:28 pm
Well my ultimate dream school would be UCLA (I might even take it over Boalt), but realistically I'm looking at Hastings, Davis and my back-up is Pacific McGeorge. Yours?

Yeah, I know that the LSAT counts for significantly more for adcomm than GPA (although I hear Boalt actually cares about your GPA a lot), but I think it goes a long way to have both for reassurance, you know? Looking at your GPA, you have the potential of getting into the t14, depending on your LSAT. That's awesome! shinichi
LSATs Saturday, October 4th, 2008 at 12:50 am
Not sure if you're gonna read this in time or even if you're taking the LSAT on Oct 4th, but just in case...

Best of luck! shinichi

Man, honestly it felt like it was just another preptest. I don't even feel like I'm done with LSATs, I guess it hasn't hit me yet. I can feel it looming on me haha.

That being said, I'm expecting to score in the mid-160s, because that's what I've been scoring on my PTs for the past two weeks. Here's hoping! shinichi
Application Monday, October 6th, 2008 at 12:49 am
Yeah I doubt adcomm will seriously look at any incomplete application, but it's nice to have it submitted you know, now all I need to do is wait for my LORs to be processed. And plus you'll be in their system, so they know when your app came in, and maybe that will look positively if you submit it early. shinichi
Good luck Wednesday, October 8th, 2008 at 2:22 am
Good luck with your cycle. Our GPA's are semi-close and we have many of the same schools listed. I'll be keeping an eye on your page to see how you do. luckygehrig
Hastings Thursday, October 9th, 2008 at 12:00 am
I had given consideration to it, but changed my mind. I'm not sure I would want to live in San Fran for 3 years. Good luck on your LSAT score too. Those were the longest 3 weeks of my life. luckygehrig
LSDAS grades Monday, October 13th, 2008 at 5:37 pm
Well, I dropped 2 or 3 classes from early on but retook a few C's for A's and one F for a B. Still the damage wasn't as bad as I thought. When I had calculated the GPA out myself, I was finding around a 3.18 and it ended up being a 3.24.

I noticed from some other comments on your profile you took a prep class, did you think it helped? I took one too, it helped me, but I was hoping for more. Boilerup117

Oct. LSAT Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Well the 165 was my high on a practice test, I got a 154 on my actual! lol

I just choked, no question about it. The pressure got to me. Even on logic games!! I've been missing between 1 and 3 per section and on the test day I missed 7! Hope your test went well if you took it in Oct, I'll be doing it all again in December unfortunately. Boilerup117
LSAT Wednesday, October 29th, 2008 at 12:17 pm
I wasn't depressed, really, I was just expecting mid-160s :/

I decided not to retake, cuz I don't think I'll be ready by December. Best of luck. shinichi
PS Thursday, November 6th, 2008 at 12:48 pm
Hey! I think PS is pretty important, I had a way of telling my story I guess that's pretty impacting. If you want me to look over your PS let me know. ABALaw
HI Monday, November 10th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
Looks like we're applying to a lot of the same schools.

Just wanted to pop in and wish you luck.

You'll probably get into a lot of them before me as your GPA blows mine out of the water. :) LoveLaughLive
Thanks! Tuesday, November 11th, 2008 at 1:18 am
No. 1 would have to be UCLA. After that it would be GW, ND, BC, and then probably Davis. Hastings and Fordham are right there too. I prefer Davis to Hastings only because Davis offers an environmental law specialization.

Good luck with all of your applications! fsbulldog

Yeah, I'm pretty decently happy with my score, at least I will go to law school but I just wished that law schools looked at extra curricular activities more so than numbers. All I need is one T1 school and I'll be happy.

I sure hope my age won't hinder but I'm a lot younger. I'll be barely 20 when I enter law school, we'll see how they look at that. :) LoveLaughLive

Congrats on the victory! Thursday, November 20th, 2008 at 12:06 am
I actually stayed up the other night to watch the game. St. Mary's looked pretty good and I will probably go see them play San Diego (I live in San Diego). Fresno is young but looked athletic, and did see that dunk??? fsbulldog
Good luck! Tuesday, December 2nd, 2008 at 10:04 pm
On the LSAT this Saturday. Hopefully your score will be where you want. luckygehrig
