Additional info & updates

All scholarships are total over 3 years.

12/9: Not accepted ED to BU but application is being considered in the Regular admissions cycle. Happy I didn't get a rejection from ED cycle!

12/16: In at U Minnesota via phone call from Dean of Admissions.

12/19: In at Notre Dame via email! Really excited about this one.

12/20: In at William and Mary via email early this morning!

1/13: Invited to alumni interview from Georgetown. Hoping this is a good thing!

2/1 Interview with Georgetown alum went really well.

2/3: Accepted to George Washington by email this morning!

2/10: Accepted to BU by phone call, packet is in the mail!

2/11: Waitlisted at BC. This cycle has proven to me that rank and scores are not everything. I've been accepted to schools that I didn't think I had a chance at and waitlisted at some ranked much lower. I definitely advise future applicants to apply to their reach/dream schools because you really never know! I am non-URM and have done nothing really significant. I believe it was my personal statement, which had a unique story, and my letters of recommendation that have gotten me this far. Goes to show that when you want something bad enough, it really can happen!

2/13: Received notification that I received the Leadership Scholarship from OSU. This required an additional essay. I am not sure if it is in addition to another merit based scholarship or not.

2/18: Packet and scholarship received from BU today. Maybe it's the scholarship, but I am more excited about this offer than I previously anticipated.

2/28: Placed on the "Preferred" waitlist for Georgetown.

5/8: Accepted off of Georgetown's waitlist! Very excited to find out this early. My cycle is over!

We are almost twins and had same result from MN. Looks like we are going to have a similar cycle. Best of luck to you

Thanks! Best of luck to you too! I actually have you on my Watchlist because I noticed how similar our apps and school choices were!

Have you made any decisions yet re school?

Sunday, November 24 2013 at 04:54 AM

I have it narrowed down to GW, Notre Dame, and Boston U. But I am waiting to hear back from Georgetown and to see if I get any kind of scholarships. My top choice is Georgetown (if accepted) followed by Notre Dame. I am not too concerned about debt because my parents are helping me out a lot since I paid for undergrad by myself so that makes decisions a little easier. What about you!?

I dont have that many options yet. GW is now my first choice. ...each school I applied to was a "reach", with the exception of American.

I applied to mostly reaches as well. Have to dream big, right?!

Seeing your profile gives me some hope. I thought I wouldn't have a chance because of my LSAT, but I've got some good recommendations and I think a good personal statement. It's nice to see that those do actually play a factor.

They really do! I think the other key is applying as early as you can. I didn't apply last cycle because I wanted to improve my LSAT. Then I ended up cancelling my second LSAT score because I was sick the day of the test. So I went ahead and applied, putting a ton of time into the PS and optional essays. I also think GPA matters more than people lead you to believe.

Congratulations for your cycle so far! I had a 159 in 2011 and did not dare to apply for Georgetown. Now I've got my February score with 3 more points, I kinda regretted that I didn't go for my dream school and backed off. At least I didn't give myself a chance to try. Good luck to you on Georgetown!

Congrats!
