My personal debate at this point is Santa Clara vs. American PT. I want to do Patent Law, & I keep hearing I should go to the highest ranked school. Does this apply to a #43 (across the country) vs. a #87 (local)?? (I'd transfer to FT after 1L if i go to AU)

I wouldn't mind school in DC, NY, Chi., but I'd probably want to come back to the Bay Area at some point. On the other hand, SCU = Alumni network + mucho local IP prospects. Career is utmost concern. If anyone has an opinion, please feel free to leave a comment, thanks.

Waiting on Fordham PT & UC Hastings, both of which are slim... I've had a lucky cycle. Happy to be accepted to SCU, but part of me wants to shoot myself in the face at the thought of living in the Santa Clara area for 3 more years.

Even if I intend on hard studying thru the JD, I've been itchin' to try a different region for a few years, preferably an urban setting.

Congradulations on Santa Clara. How/when did they notify you? Are you thinking about IP?

I have similar numbers (though admittedly my major was not as difficult), so I'm eager to see what happens with you, good luck!

congrats so far. I've applied to many of the same schools. Did you have to apply separately for $$ from Franklin Pierce, or was it automatic?

Congrats

American, Miami, and DePaul - all pretty good schools. Good luck. Are you planning on going into IP?

congrats on depaul (i was impressed by their personality and i'm from chicago and they offered me $ so i will very likely attend there). Any opinion on Miami and what their campus might be like? thanks

All your schools you got accepted to seem like their all 2nd tier. I think you should go where the money is.

USC definitely

When you're outside the top 20, I've been told that for IP going to school in your desired practice location is a big advantage, more so than school rank. You'll be more likely to get local jobs/externships/and finally associateships. Or so others have told me. I would go to SCU. The weather is better anyway! My two cents worth from a fellow EE.

I applied FT to Fordham and when I was deferred, I checked FT only. Hope this helps & good luck!

Question on LSAT
Sunday, September 18 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey there...congrats on SCU. Our profiles are almost identical. How long did you study for the LSAT and did you take a class? Did you sense that applying ED was a beneficial choice in getting admitted?
