Additional info & updates

10/10: Submitted my first wave of applications. Still need to write a supplemental essay for Penn, write a 250 for Yale, get dean's certs for Yale and Stanford, and find app fee cash for HYS/Chi/B.

10/11: Complete at Virginia, Duke, Northwestern, UCLA and USC. Saw The Social Network today. It was good.

10/12: Visited my undergrad school, gave them Dean's Cert forms for Yale and Stanford. They should be sent out by the end of the week.

10/13: Went ahead and submitted to H/S/Chi/B. There goes about 400 bucks. Woohoo! Still gotta do some writing for Penn and Yale, but then I'll be done!

10/14: Complete at Georgetown, Chicago and Berkeley. Stanford will be complete once they receive Form B, per the status checker.

10/18: Under Review at Berkeley.

10/19: Complete at Columbia. Under Review at Harvard. Scary thought.

10/21: Priority Reserve at Duke. YP? Maybe? Who knows...

10/26: Complete at Michigan. That took a while...

10/27: Complete and submitted for review at Stanford.

11/6: In at Georgetown today via snail mail. A short letter with a handwritten note. Very nice.

11/9: Finally got my status checker email from NYU, where I've apparently been under review since 10/29.

12/3: NYU Status Checker says decision letter mailed. Looks like a good sign.

12/11: In at NYU, letter dated 12/1. Over a month between decisions. Nice to get another one.

12/13: Woke up to an email from Cornell welcoming me to the class and inviting me to apply for a Dean's Scholarship. I guess I now have enough justification for a trip to NY this winter--but I'm definitely still hoping for Columbia to make it even more necessary! You hear me, Columbia?

1/3: Decision Finalized at USC.

1/6: Rejected from Harvard via email. No big surprise, though I'd hoped for at least a courtesy waitlist. Oh well.

1/7: In at USC. Nice to have a west coast option.

1/10: Rejected at Chicago via email. Kinda surprised. Oh well.

Nope. Seems the trend so far is that if you are above one median but below the other, and don't write one, you'll most likely get waitlisted.
