Additional info & updates

Was invited to apply to the Rothman Scholarship at USC. I would have a very hard time turning that down! I sent in my essay via snail mail on the 31st. Should be plenty of time to make the Jan. 11th deadline. Still waiting on an acceptance from them though.

The admissions packages from BU and GW both included hand written notes relating to my interests in ID/DD issues. Very nice touch!

Jan 5. -- Got rejection email from UVA. Not heartbroken, since I didn't think that was a great fit for me anyway, and I knew it was a stretch. I do hope that it doesn't mean all my T10 schools will respond the same way though! Also asked to participate in a Georgetown Interview today. Guess this is good news?

Jan. 10 -- Got a fee waiver to Notre Dame -- I'm considering applying since it would be free, but I probably won't since I've already gotten into GW.

Jan. 11 -- Rejection email came from U. Chicago. I'm not surprised, and I expect more of these of course, since I applied to so many stretch schools. A friend of mine just got into one of his stretches, which reminds me, that I only need to get into one reach for it to have been worth applying to them.

Also got an email from U Michigan saying that they had reviewed my file once, but have not rendered a decision. I guess I'll count this as good news because they haven't rejected me!!

Also, I added the US New and World Report numbers as "choice" so I don't have to keep looking them up.

Jan 14 -- Alas another top ten rejection. This one from UPenn. Can't say I don't expect them. Also got an email from BU encouraging me to make them my pick.

Jan 18 -- Just got a call from UT at Austin. I'm in! Packet being sent this week. Pretty exciting.

Jan 21 -- GULC interview scheduled for Wednesday next week. Very nervous! Also rejected from Harvard. No surprise there.

Feb 1 -- HOLD at Columbia. I know "hold" isn't exciting to most people, but I'll count this in the win column myself!

Feb 9 -- Hold at Northwestern. The "hold" thing kind of sucks. I really don't want to wait until May to know where I'll be living in August.

Feb 11 -- Waitlisted at UCLA and GULC. I'm really getting bummed out. I just want to be able to plan my life! Straight and direct answers are preferable. I guess I just need to focus on going to UT Austin at this point, and just see what else comes. My partner is applying for completely different program is having his expenses paid to go look at Duke, which makes me think Duke would be incredible, but that's a long shot for sure. *sigh*
