Additional info & updates

Hmm... I probably should have gotten those Applications out sooner, huh? I struggled with my Personal Statement... wasn't sure what to write . . . and just kept putting it off...

My class rank is actually 24th percentile, not 24 out of 100... I have no idea how many were in my graduating class... thousands at least . . . I dunno SUNYA is a big school...

My semester grades kinda go up and down throughout the first 3 years as an undergrad. So you have this pattern of Very bad, Decent, Very Bad, Decent, Very Bad, Very Good, Decent, Decent. I managed to make Dean's List that one "very good" semester . . .so that should help I guess. My only degree is the B.A. in Soc.

I had to cancel my first LSAT score because it was a disaster. I've taken enough of those f@!#ing practice tests since then to determine that I couldn't possibly have scored above 150..... there's just no way . . . so I cancelled and signed up for a TestMasters prep course. It worked out really well for me, I had a really good instructer (P.S. try to audit a few different classes because some instructors aren't nearly as good as others). Anyway I did much, Much, MUCH better the second time around . . .

As far as work goes I pretty much have only done construction work and building and grounds maintenence. So... "Unskilled laborer" is pretty much what I am at this point. I've been out of college for 4 years....

Reason I applied to so many schools is because I have no idea how the AdComs are going to view my profile. Some of them might fall in love with me and others might laugh themselves histerical while taking turns pissing on my application. So I decided to cast the net widely and see what I catch...

Well, so far a good cycle despite all the late apps. Rutgers-Camden specifically said "The Committe and the Deans at the law school were very, very impressed by your outstanding personal statement." I wasn't going to apply to Fordham but after hearing that I sent out a LAST-minute application.

Waitlisted at Pace!! What a crushing blow! I thought they'd be a sure thing. I thought that they'd give me a scholarship. It would have been a short and easy commute, and I would have saved alot of money living where I am now. Plus they have alot of connections in Westchester so my work commute would've been easy too. Oh well. If i had sent my application earlier this might not have happened. They said the personal statement was "..typically not to exceed 500 words.", mine was around 750. Maybe that did me in. I dunno... Even if I get in through the waitlist it doesn't make sense to go there when NYLS, Albany, and St. John's are offering what they're offering... Kozmo you fool! Assumption is the mother of all fuck-ups...

I just noticed we applied to many of the same schools at around the same time and have sort of similar numbers. I've had a pretty good run of acceptances so far (though all the ones I really want are still up in the air) so I hope you end up with a good admissions cycle as well. Best of luck!! :)

How did Pace notify you that you had been taken off the waitlist? Was it by phone or mail?

They sent me an e-mail. They didn't actually take me off the waitlist, they wanted to know how strong my committment was first, sort of feel me out before they offered me a seat. I told them they'd be my number one choice if they could compete with the other scholarship offers I got from Albany and St. John's, but I haven't heard back from them yet. :(

see you...
