Additional info & updates

7/12/10 - Well, the final verdict is in, which completes this cycle. Two acceptances out of 24 applications. It is crazy that law schools rely so heavily on the LSAT, though even the LSAC warns against using it as a primary factor in the admissions process. Anyway, I feel that I made the right decision in attending CSL, and am glad that it looked beyond the numbers game.

7/1/10 - Paid my seat deposit yesterday. I had CSL switch me from FT to PT so that I could work full-time and have less debt upon graduation. I will still be graduating the same year as I would have if I had retaken the LSAT and started law school next year as an FT student.

6/24/10 - Holy cow! I am totally ecstatic! Just when I thought law school was off-limits to me this year, a few minutes ago I received an email from Charlotte School of Law congratulating me on my acceptance to the Fall 2010 program! North Carolina, here I come! Woo-Hoo! I am just beside myself right now - grinning from ear to ear.

6/23/10 - Though I at least received one acceptance (Cooley), even with the Honors Scholarship, I cannot afford to attend. So, I am currently pursuing my M.A.Ed. (and saving more money), and will reapply to law school for the Fall 2011 term. What a bummer! BUT, I am not giving up.

5/6/10 - Rejected by Harvard. What a shock - lol.

5/4/10 - Received an interesting letter from Jones. I was actually not rejected, but invited to participate in CAAP for 4 weeks. Successful completion may get me in for the Fall 2010 term. It requires attending 3 weeks online and 1 week on campus. Is anyone familiar with this program or ever attended it? I am seriously considering doing this and only have 2 weeks to decide, so any input would be greatly appreciated.

5/1/10 - Rejected by FSU, but was encouraged to apply for a transfer if I did well during my 1L elsewhere.

4/29/10 - Applied to 7 more schools and do not plan to apply to more, unless anyone can offer some suggestions.

4/28/10 - Rejected by FAMU and UALR. What a bummer. :0( I applied to 9 more schools - did not realize it would be that difficult just to get ONE acceptance. This is getting to be costly, even with the fee waivers.

4/27/10 - Wow, it only took 4 days for FSU's decision. This is likely not good news.

4/26/10 - FAMU made a decision. Letter forthcoming.

Thank you for your encouragement, JDdiva. I applied to Cooley today. What I am concerned about is my moving expenses it will be costly moving there, then moving again the following year. I guess it is better than waiting another year to start law school though. LOL! Good luck to you in the acceptance process. I will keep an eye out on your progress. :0)

For wadewhite: Thank you. To me, the LSAT is more of a guessing game than a test, so I am leery of retaking it. I might consider it though if I do not get in this cycle. Good luck to you on the retake and admissions. For Question: Thank you. Yes, FAMUs online status showed Decision rendered. Letter Forthcoming. There was no mention of a seat deposit anywhere, so hopefully this is good news for you. Good luck!

Hi, Was just looking at your profile and noticed that you have a great GPA. I know you probably don't want to hear it...but you should really consider re-taking. I think with a few points gained you could really open some doors at the schools you want to attend.I am going to do the same thing.

Thank you so much for your encouragement, GentlemanJustice. Unfortunately, my $23,062 scholarship is for the full three years (about $7,687 per year). I am sorry if my figure above was confusing. I do have some awesome news though, which I am about to post. Woo-Hoo, I am definitely going to law school this year!

Congrats!!!!!

Did you take any prep course for the LSAT

No, I did not take any LSAT prep course, nor put forth much effort in answering the LSAT questions. Why? Because I think the alleged test is ridiculous. I have performed extensive research and found that the ACT, SAT, and LSAT are only about 25 percent accurate in determining a student's success in college or law school. I was already in the process of appealing my denials based on this, but halted my efforts when I received CSL's acceptance.

Harvard?

Congrats on Charlotte, its a great school. I had also looked into going there. Why did you apply to harvard? Any connections there, I just dont understand why you would waste the money to apply there. good luck

Glad you were admitted to Charlotte, and hoping you are enjoying. For everyone suggesting retaking the LSAT, be sure to know your limits. I took the LSAT three times, after two prep courses, one tutor and $5,000 later - it bought me 4 points from a 138 to a 141. For me, it is not incorrect answer choices - I am not a fast reader which limited my ability to reach every question in every section. Thus, I too, am not a believer in the accuracy of standardized testing and it is frustrating that schools place such an emphasis on the numbers.

Congrats
