Additional info & updates

10/13 -- Email from Harvard inviting me to apply. I'm awfully surprised, but hopefully it's a good sign!

12/15 -- all applications officially turned in and complete.

1/2 -- Accepted at Davis! Not too surprising, but I'm off to a good start.

1/8 -- Accepted at UCLA! Not too interested in going, but good to know I have options.

1/13 -- Thick envelope from Michigan! Complete with a personal note from Dean Zearfoss saying she loved my personal statement. Hopefully the fact that they got back to me so quickly is positive.

2/8 -- Rejected at Yale. Not that surprised, I had basically no chance of getting in, but still a little disappointed.

2/12 -- Rejected at Berkeley. This was fairly surprising to me; I thought I had a great chance of getting accepted. Good thing I wasn't too excited about the prospect of going there.

2/13: Email from Harvard saying that two months have gone by and they haven't made a decision. Apparently they want to take a look at the larger applicant pool. Can't say I'm upset about that--I expected a pretty immediate rejection.

2/15: "Hold" letter from Columbia. Sounds like same from Harvard...I'm a strong candidate, they haven't made a final decision, blah blah blah, I'll hear by April 15th at the latest.

2/19 -- Waitlisted at Penn. :-( Fairly surprised again: from what I understand, Michigan and Penn are pretty comparable, but I guess not.

3/7: Offered a Dean's Scholarship @ Michigan...awesome. Merit- based & worth $27,000. This'll make my decision difficult if I get into Stanford or Harvard.

3/8: Rejected at Chicago.

4/16: Wow, this process seems to be taking forever! I was just put on reserve @ Columbia, but am still waiting to hear from Harvard and Stanford. I know that I'll either be waitlisted or rejected outright at Harvard, and my guess is Stanford's deciding between those most unsavory choices as well. Someday I'll know where I'll be next September...

4/21: My prediction was correct - rejected at Harvard.

5/2: FINALLY heard from Stanford. Now if only they, or some other school, will take me off the wait list and accept me.
