7/ 10/09 Anyone else attending UDM? Email me at freemaaa@udmercy.edu I know no one, so it will be nice to get to know some fellow 1L's before the term starts.

6/1/09 Decided on UDM. $10,000 scholarship helped. Withdrew from waitlist @ Wayne State.

2/26/09 Got a call back from the Director of Admissions at UDM to let me know that I had been accepted and I should expect a packet in the mail any day now. Hooray!

2/26/09 Thanks to those who were kind enough to point out that waitlisted is different than deferred. I didn't know that at first. I feel better now.

I also got an email from the Director of Admissions at UDM yesterday asking me to call her. So I did. I had to leave a message. Ah, the waiting....

2/19/09 Today I got a letter from Wayne State saying the committee has decided to defer a final admission decision on my application, in order to collectively review all deferred applicants in March. I am welcome to update my application, yada yada yada. Hmmm... I guess this is better than a flat out rejection which is what I was expecting when I saw the small envelope. My heart sank when I saw that thin, flimsy envelope. But alas, there is hope.

I see that we have applied to the same schools. I wish you luck with this process, you have good numbers to get into both schools.

Thanks

Thanks midwesthopeful! Good luck to you too. If you wind up in metro D, I'd be happy to offer advice on housing, local attractions, etc. Detroit is a pretty cool town. Lots of bad press, but it's not so bad. :)

Hi Law school mom, I'm curious - what draws you to Detroit, in particular? Also, how would you describe the atmosphere of Miami? All I have to really go off of is movies!

Actually, a better quesiton is probably what drew you from Madison Heights down to Miami! And then to leave the warmth for winters!

HAH!

I grew up in metro-Detroit. Scholarship $$ took me to Miami. Now I'm back in Michigan and am basically stuck here due to hubby's job and the fact that we couldn't sell our house if we tried. *sigh* Such is life.

Miami

Miami is way cool. Great night life. Campus is beautiful. Very safe campus, great wellness center, decent on-campus food. Study under the palm trees- hey, what more could you want?!?! I actually got married right there on campus at the Episcopal Church in '98. Ahh.. seems so long ago.

Hey there, I think you have a strong chance at both Wayne St and UDM. A 151 is a lot stronger of an LSAT score than what I have even though it's only three points. You also have a lot of other positives going for you as well, especially the fact you're from Michigan. I wouldn't worry too much!

You were not waitlisted
Monday, December 01 2008 at 07:00 PM

Waitlisted is very different from deferred. Wayne State has not yet made a decision on your application. This means that you were deferred.

Monday, September 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

If they said they are going to review your application again, it's not waitlisted. I have this at both Creighton and North Dakota. However, waitlist is the only choice that really fits on here.

Monday, September 29 2008 at 08:00 PM

I am "deferred" at both North Dakota and Creighton. I wonder what the chances of getting accepted are?? Waitlist was the only choice on here that fit for our profile.

oops, double post...sorry haha

Not really waitlisted...
Sunday, January 18 2009 at 07:00 PM

I didn't know what the difference was between waitlisted and deferred at first. Now I do, so I'm feeling a little more hopeful. Sent a LOCI - not sure if those make a difference or not.

Congrats on UDM!

Interesting background! Were applying to the same schools. I take it your hoping to attend Wayne State as your first choice?
