Additional info & updates

Number to the left of each school is the % chance I have of getting in based solely on my GPA and LSAT. Ones that are blank were not on the LSAC search.

I am not really sure where I will go next year. I love to do hypotheticals, but they don't mean much until I actually get an acceptance letter. It may very well come down to a $$$ decision since I don't want to go the NY firm route.

2007-2010: I'm going to University of Texas. It was hard but they increased the offer and even had added some grants on top of the scholarship. Ultimately because I will try to go Gov't side, I can't afford 200k a year debt.

03-30-07: UT increases scholarship to 7,000 per year.

03-23-07: Michigan granted 6,000 a year scholarship. Flattering, but still too expensive to attend given I will be doing Government work.

03-20-07: 10K per year scholarship from Cornell as long as I stay above 3.0

03-17-07: Rejected from Penn. Was deferred.

03-15-07: General non-resident waitlist at UVA. Surpising $10,000 per year scholarship at Duke. Well well well...

03-14-07: IN AT USC! No word of scholarship. Via snail mail.

03-12-07: Status update decision e-mail from UVA. I cannot get into law forum web site so I guess that means it's a rejection or waitlist. I figured since it took so long but it sure took them long enough.

03-05-07: Scared I'd get 3 Rejections in 3 mail days, Vanderbilt broke the curse by giving me a scholarship of 15k per year, renewable as long as I stay in good academic standing. I think I can swing that.

03-03-07: Rejection from Berkeley, only 8 days late.

03-02-07: Rejection at Yale. There goes the dream. 24k per year at WUSTL guaranteed all 3 years.

02-27-07: Switched to Fall start Michigan. Yes! Via e-mail, I asked.

02-15-07: Waitlisted at UCLA. I found it a bit surprising and it cast up a bit of a bad omen.

01-31-07: Waitlisted at Columbia via regular mail. I was expecting a Rejection, so that is not so bad.

01-30-07: IN at Notre Dame. Gave me 15k per year only requirement that I stay in good academic standing. I was hoping for more because I could have considered this school had it been a better money offer.

01-25-07: Deferred at Berkeley. Said they will have decision by Feb. 23rd. I am expecting a rejection but if I were to get in, they would be hard to turn down.

01-24-07: In at WUSTL. They say scholarship will arrive in Feb.

01-22-07: BYU sent me a letter telling me that I was awarded a renewable $5,000 scholarship for 2007-2008. Problem is, they didn't say the terms, so I am leaving it at just $5,000. I also received official letter from GW, nice handwritten note on the letter, saying I was an excellent candidate. No word of money though which is too bad because money is the name of the game at this point.

01-13-07: Well well well, W&L decided to make it interesting by offering me a $25,800 scholarship per year contingent on me maintaining a 3.0. Let the inner debate begin.

01-12-07: E-mail from GW. I'm in!

01-11-07: E-mail from BYU telling me that I am in. Said official letter with scholarship offer will be in the mail!

01-04-07: Got a call from George Mason. Assistant Dean was VERY nice. Made me think more highly of the school and piqued my interest.

12-22-06: Deferred at Penn. First negative news of the cycle. Not unexpected. Right after, I read a letter from Vanderbilt accepting me (both snail mail).

12-20-06: In at SMU via phone call. Nice short call.

12-19-06: In at W&L via snail mail. Nice short letter. Told to e-mail them in order to apply for scholarship.

12-18-06: In at Cornell via e-mail. I began to wonder.

12-07-06: Texas sends money offer at 5k per year. Nice, considering its on top of in-state.

12-02-06: In at William & Mary. Scholarship offering me in-state tuition and $4k a year for helping with research 8 hrs/week.

11-25-06: Received small envelope from University of Texas. Accepted! Just a couple of sheets of paper.

11-22-06: Received huge packet from Michigan in the mail! I'm in for SUMMER 2007, not sure if I can skip summer or not and just do Fall. Summer would be nice after the fact, but would be hard to go so early. Hoping for scholarship because it is expensive! Woot! (Did NOT write WHY Michigan essay but DID write career plan essay)

11-09-06: Received short letter from Georgetown in the mail! They complemented my P.S. and said they hope I come back to D.C.

11-04-06: Received packet from Duke. I got in! They made specific reference to my personal statement. Surprising and cool.

10-23-06: Received an e-mail from Baylor telling me that I was admitted and that they have offered me a Dean's Scholarship, that is full tuition for all 3 years as long as I maintain a 2.6. Yeah! Nice, quick start to the process!

Nice going! I received the Dean's Scholarship from Baylor as well and have applied to many of the same schools that you have. Good luck!

Congrats

on your Duke acceptance! It must be a huge relief to start the cycle off with two early acceptances. Did you send Duke your dean's certification?

Isn't it Obvious?

I just wanted to let the adcomms know that the 169 was a legitimate 169.

Congrats

You've an already impressive number of acceptances pretty early on in the app process. You must've had a whale of a ps. Would be interested in reading it if you wouldn't mind sending it :-)

Congrats on your acceptances!

Congratulations on all the acceptances and scholarships! I applied to many of the same schools, and also received a Dean's Scholarship at Baylor. How long was it between Complete and Accepted at UT Austin? Also, did you apply to full time JD or a specialized program at Duke? Congrats again!!

Thanks! The letter didn't seem to say anything about a minimum GPA or anything, but from rumors I hear I believe you need to remain in the top third of the class. Congrats on Michigan, too! I'm still anxiously awaiting a letter from them, so I can figure out when their Preview Weekend is. I called trying to find out and they said I couldn't know what weekend it was until I was admitted.
