Additional info & updates

4/21 - Well my cycle is just about over. I haven't heard back from Baylor yet, but their class is full, so I will be waitlisted. I've been surprised at some of the WLs, but with applications up across the board, it seems like there hasn't been a lot of rhyme or reason to a lot of their decisions.

That being said, I'm pretty happy with the places I was accepted to, and am now trying to decide between FSU and ASU.

I haven't toured Arizona State, but feel pretty comfortable going there, and my advisor has great things to say about some of their staff. I like Phoenix, and think that would be a fun place to live. The curriculum at ASU seems to be varied, and their legal writing class is well respected, so I feel like it'll definitely offer me a lot of flexibility. Furthermore, it looks like my brother will also be attending ASU, so that's a plus as well. I haven't heard about a scholarship offer from ASU, and while my numbers don't really put in my the normal echelon of students that would receive one, ASU seems to be really generous with their money. In my mind, a scholarship would make my decision all the easier.

When I toured FSU, I felt comfortable there, and from my first impression it seemed like the students there got along fairly well, and were laid back. A degree from FSU would let me practice in most of northern Florida, supposing that I do well, but that's the kicker for all of law school, so I can handle that. Their administration folks seemed friendly and willing to help out with any questions, and that's a pretty underrated attribute. Take UH for example - those people could not have been less helpful in my interactions with them. Having a situation like that helps you to appreciate FSU's worth.

Right now, I'm definitely leaning toward ASU, although I haven't decided. The seat deposit for FSU is May 1st for me, so I'm going to try to make a decision by then.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome. =)

4/26 - ASU it is.

I think you'll like ASU. It's awesome weather here, although a little hot in the summer, and the law school is very well respected. They have a notable faculty to staff ratio, and a huge amount of 2l and 3l courses to choose from. The campus is absolutely beautiful and easy to get around. And there is tons of fun to be had in neighboring Scottsdale and Phoenix. And it doesn't hurt that some of the most beautiful people in the world reside here. Makes for a godd environment for a great law education.

Oh, and Congrats! Also, ASU is VERY generous with scholarship money, so if you don't get one now, you will likely receive one if you do well your first year. (And all my info is firsthand - I did my undergrad there.) Again, congrats!
