Withdrew from CUNY in hope that someone out there will get my spot. Good luck to everyone who reads this! :)

Withdrew from Pace (3/21)

Withdrew from Rutgers (3/25)
---although on 4/26/06 I received an email notifying me that I've been waitlisted

Withdrew from St. John's (4/1)

Withdrew at NYLS (4/?)

In love with Seton Hall. :)

And for whoever left the "word of advice message," I apologize for "being annoying." I merely did what many others have asked me to do. From what I understand, it's a matter of courtesy. I asked people to withdraw from schools they knew they wouldn't be attending (because they had stated they had been accepted to another school they prefer) because I was asked to do the same by many people...both here and on Law School Discussion (LSD). It's also helps law schools out because they can proceed with the admissions process faster and more efficiently that way. They don't have to bother sending additional materials regarding financial aid, open houses, and all that other stuff to people who aren't going to attend. And it also speeds up the process of them getting to their deferred candidates. I feel it's in everyone's best interest. I'm sorry you felt annoyed, but no one else seemed to have a problem with it. Regardless, good luck to you in law school...

Full time, but I don't think it is looking good. Yes, I have both parents, and uncles, and family friends who went there...but still, I don't think I have the pull to get me in w/ my LSAT score. As dissapointing as that is, because I've wanted to be there my whole life (since I went to classes as an infant there), I am very happy with where I am in thus far. I'll make due. Looks like you and I are in the same Rutgers boat, huh?

Fordham

Right now I'm still waiting to hear from GW. I applied PT there as well, but I'm not sure why I havent heard back yet ( I applied in early October). If I get rejected from GW, there is a good chance I'll end up at Fordham. It will be a tough decision though, I really wanted to be in DC. So I may still accept the offer at American.....Good Luck! P.S. If I get into GW I will be declining the offer at Fordham ASAP!

thank you!

Thanks for the congrats. I am leaning towards seton hall right now. I would like to have the option to stay in the DC area as well, but right now it's looking like seton hall.

My file was complete in mid-Dec. Also, I'm white/f. CONGRATS on NYLS! Good luck w/ the rest of you apps, we applied to a lot of the same places. Maybe we'll wind up at the same school!

Fordham

I'm pretty much set on GW. I got a letter from Fordham saying that I should send them a letter saying that I'm still interested. I haven't mailed it in yet so as to not take up a spot that I won't use. Haha, but I'm still so undecided.

NY/DC

Thanks, and congrats on NYLS and hopefully more. I'm in the same boat as far as locality. I'm staying in DC, so my apps. were limited to this area and a few in NYC in case I got locked out of DC.

Hey, thanks for the congrats! I am not a URM, although there were times I wish I were during this cycle. SHU is #1 right now - I hope I get good news from St Johns and Rutgers, but we'll see. Why are you hiding your #'s? Anyway, Good luck!

Seton Hall

PittyPlease, Right now Seton Hall is my top choice for NY area school. If i get a BLS or Fordham acceptance this week I will withdraw my Seton Hall PT acceptance. Also $$ plays a part in my decision. They gave me a sizeable PT scholarship and I'm not sure any other schools will do that. Thanks.

Per your request I withdrew from the schools im not considering anymore. Good luck with the rest of your apps.

Seton Hall

I withdrew last week from Seton Hall. I didn't want to hold the spot if I knew I wasn't going there. I see you have both PT's and FT's. Which would you rather do? I'm having trouble making that decision myself. Thanks

Seton Hall Rejection
Tuesday, December 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

I cannot disclose my stats right now. I will say that my GPA is probably lower than what Seton Hall looks for in applicants when deciding who to offer admission to. Good Luck.

Thanks for your post- and no offense taken, I totally agree (and was surprised by my acceptance!). I'm not entirely sure but I went to the top liberal arts school, was an all-american athlete, led the residential life program, and was the head of the queer student union for two years. My PS was about my work experience on the Tyco trial, and my diversity statement was about coming out, etc. I have a feeling those things factored into their decision, although an addendum noting the disparity between my LSAT scores and past standardized tests might have helped as well. In the end, however, I think the difference might have been my contact with them (I emailed them more than once, and expressed explicit interest in one of their programs while highlighting my past experience that make SHU a good fit for me). I can't see your numbers, but I think emails to them is a very good approach - they were extremely responsive. Hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, let me know! GOOD LUCK. I'm impressed with the Fordham deferral - that's a great response from them!

Do you have an email address where I can answer your question? Let me know!

No problem
Monday, May 30 2005 at 08:00 PM

For the same reason, I didn't want to give out the name of the person I emailed at SHU. I would generally just pick one from the admissions office, as listed on their website. You can't really go wrong. GOOD LUCK.

Withdrawn? Don't think so
Wednesday, September 28 2005 at 08:00 PM

I am waiting to hear back from those schools. Pace requires a deposit by April1, so I am putting in a deposit just in case. I am not withdrawing my applications from any of those other schools. Sorry.

No problem

I took down the Attending status, so I don't confuse anyone. Good luck to you also!

Tuesday, February 14 2006 at 07:00 PM

hi there, i just saw your comment. i think that what has helped me significantly with my law school acceptances is the fact that i have a masters degree...i did both my undergraduate and graduate work at nyu, and my gpas are 4.0 and 3.823, respectively. i definitely think that gives me an edge. hope this helps, and good luck!!! best, sharon

Can you please withdraw from St. John's and Rutgers? I am still waiting to hear from both. Thanks, KLR

Seton Hall over St. John's?
Monday, May 30 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey! Congrats on Seton Hall. I think we might be classmates next year! I was wondering, why SHU over St. John's? I was waitlisted, but might be able to go PT at St. John's. Is it because you're from jersey? CONGRATS.

SHU
Monday, May 30 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yes! I, too, fell in love with the school. I loved the facility, and the students seemed to have a lot of Seton Hall pride...I mean, how can you be unhappy when so much light is pouring into the building?! I am going FT, although I'm still waiting to hear from Northeastern so... Congrats on a great decision!

Hey - thanks for your message. It was a tough choice, but I am going to go to Northeastern. I really loved Seton Hall, but I think NU is a better choice for me. Good luck!
