Additional info & updates

11/27/12 My second LOR finally came through, and my CAS report was sent to Carbondale, my application status changed from incomplete, to under committee review within an hour. I also e-mailed Indiana a request for an application fee waiver, and sent out my applications to Valparaiso and Appalachian.

11/30/12 I got an e-mail from IU granting the application fee waiver. Also received an e-mail from Appalachian admissions saying that my application would be reviewed this coming Monday, and that I would receive a phone call from them in the afternoon informing me of their decision. (I just sent the application 3 days ago, talk about a priority decision!)

12/3/12 I got an acceptance phone call from Appalachian and a nice scholarship offer. I was told a letter was mailed out today.

12/7/12 I got a small envelope in the mail from Appalachian with an acceptance letter and information on financial aid and scholarships.

12/12/12 Noticed I was accepted into SIU via status checker. I got a phone call later in the day as-well, and a nice scholarship offer, they have just become my top pick! I was told a letter with more information is being mailed out today.

12/17/12 I received a large envelope from SIU with an acceptance letter, and a breakdown of my scholarship. It was packed full of other information about the school and the programs offered. It included a welcome letter from both the dean, and the director of admissions.

1/19/12 Just got home from my scheduled visit at SIU, and I am very impressed. The faculty all seemed very friendly, and I enjoyed the Carbondale area as well.

2/24/12 Status checker updated from file complete to in review for IU. I dont know what to think about the update coming on a Sunday, any comments?

3/5/13 - Received an e-mail from Dayton awhile back, and after a little review, I decided to send in an application today. We will see what happens there. STILL playing the waiting game with the IU and Valparaiso, and I really hope to be getting a decision soon!

3/6/12 Withdrew from Appalachian. I hope my seat, and my scholarship, finds one of you well!

3/12/13 - Status checker date was updated to today for IU, but still says "in review". I am hoping for a decision very soon!

3/13/13 - Accepted to IU via e-mail. It stated an official acceptance letter had been sent with more information. Very good news for me!

3-22-13 Received a big envelope from IU, very nice welcome pack and scholarship information (2.8 stipulation on the scholarship). Also, got accepted into Dayton via status checker, but havent heard anything about scholarships for them yet.

3-30-13 Small envelope arrived in the mail today from Dayton. Deans Scholarship Awarded, no stipulation was mentioned but the letter said more info is on the way.

4-3-13 Accepted to Valpo via phone call, I was told I did not qualify for any scholarships. Thats surprising to me, but whatever.

4-5-13 Received a big envelope in the mail from Valparaiso, and also got a welcome e-mail. I replied with my withdrawal.

4-14-13 Reluctantly withdrew from IU today. I have looked into every option available and I cannot find a way in which I could move to Indy and maintain the cost of living with my family. I withdrew from Dayton as well the other day.

Obviously, that leaves SIU as my pick. My family and I loved our visit, and the faculty there all seemed very nice. They offer campus housing for students with families too, which was pretty much the deciding factor for me. I will be retaking the LSAT in June to negotiate my scholarship, and will update my profile with any changes.

Congrats on SIU! Weird, you haven't received anything from Valpo and you applied in Nov?!... I got accepted there in 5 weeks after applying at the end of Jan. Your GPA is much better than mine... anyways just thought I'd comment. Good Luck!

Yeah, I am STILL waiting on Valpo, and it is weird. The only conclusion I can come to is that they did not like my PS, or LOR's. I feel like I have more or less been waitlisted, but never notified. It would be nice to get some decisions soon, before seat deposits are due!
