A decent amount. Sports, internships related to my career, non-legal jobs, etc. Spending the year abroad on a scholarship. Genuinely dedicated to a "public interest" cause.

ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

Will only be a year out of undergrad when I start law school, but spent several years doing other things before going back to school.

UVA Interview 9/24!

U Chi Interview 11/13!

Hold Tight Email from NYU 1/24 - sent LOCI same day.

Dillard offer from UVA - got letter 1/26. Wow!

Dean's Scholarship at Penn -$120,000 over 3 years, received 3/1.

Offered Harvard waitlist 3/25, denied same day since I'm happy with my other options. Also, let me say that expecting candidates to accept admission off of waitlists into a school that costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to attend BEFORE knowing their financial aid package is irresponsible (HLS waitlist offer says this is the deal).

Waitlisted at Stanford on 4/1, Yale on 4/20. I withdrew from all waitlists right away. Withdrew from NYU on 4/21 with no decision after nearly 7.5 months. I'm thrilled to be headed to UVA and think it's the ideal place for me!

To future applicants: keep an open mind - I was laser focused on Stanford for years, and didn't even realize till visiting what a perfect fit for me UVA was. Shoot for your goals, but be open to change.
