Scholarships are total awards

Sent is the day I sent my LSDAS report

Received is the day they received my LSDAS report

Complete is the day my LSDAS report and subsequent additions were received by the schools as I had a LOR that had not made it in time for the initial reports.

I really like Villanova and Penn State. Temple was nice on my visit but there was a shooting in the subway station down the street during my visit which seems like a bad omen!

The Widener offer is hard to turn down because they will be paying me to go to school there but I worry about job prospects and doors that might be closed.

Widener needs a 3.0 to hold scholarship

Penn State has no strings attached.

Comments are welcome and appreciated!

02-21-08 Penn State emailed me and told me they are giving me $5,000/year more due to the fact that they opened up more scholarship money. Very exciting, I need to stay in the top half of the class to keep that money however.

3-10-08 Got my Albany acceptance letter. Surprisingly, not scholarship offer with acceptance. They have taken so long to render their decision that I have essentially mentally written them off as a viable candidate, especially with no scholarship offer to get me re-engaged. I was expecting $$$ too which makes it more surprising. Maybe it will come a little later, but its getting down to decision time so they better hurry!

3-17-08 Albany came through with a scholarship 20k/year with top half of the class. Still not on my list really but Temple disappointed me with financial aid today, I was expecting more in terms of grant money. I am not comfortable with debt considering I do not want big law but I may have to end up enduring.

I was reading your comments... that does sound like a tough decision I dont know about you but Ive never felt like Ive had to weigh so many pros and cons before in my life... so many factors to consider..! Would getting into Rudgers further confuse things?

Penn State Big Mistake

You definitely do NOT want to go to Penn State. I'm in my first year there and it's nothing like the brochures said. Nearly my half professors haven't had more than 1 year of teaching experience and the school is losing experienced (tenured) teachers like nothing I have ever seen - 6 just since the beginning of this semester! Even worse, the school didn't announce any of the losses. We have to read it on the web. In short, it's nothing like the happy brochures they sent me. Students are dissatisfied with the deans, the new building might not open on time and it's always going to be 2 hours or more to a big city, so the law firms won't recruit here. It's a sad situation, and you'll do better going to a school that has more stable footing, a satisfied faculty and a satisfied student body. Go to Temple, or even Drexel.
