15 May 06: U Dayton just sent email notification of acceptance. They offered me a free night at the Marriott if I do a campus visit, the most the others offered was a negotiated rate. Kind of cool. Will see what finaid looks like, but unless the dollars work out I'm very likely going to FL Coastal. Much envy and best wishes to whoever is on the waitlist and gets this slot :)

19 May 06: Acceptance from Appalachian, dated 12 May 06 and postmarked 17 May 06. Thin white envelope. No scholarship info enclosed, but I understand they send that separately. Again, unless the dollars work out I'm very likely going to Florida Coastal. I promise to withdraw in a timely fashion, really and for true.

22 May 06: U Dayton's mailed acceptance package came. No scholarship. Withdrew. Got 1-line acknowledgement.
--
24 May 06: Appalachian confirmed no scholarship, Withdrew. No acknowledgment.
--
26 May 06: Withdrew from Cooley. Got polite email asking why, explained reasons, got second polite email saying it sounded like I'd thought things through well and thanking me for my military service. Nice folks.

26 May 06: Akron said they won't have a decision for me for several more weeks. As far as I'm concerned, I'm FL bound unless I get some incredible deal that just isn't going to happen with my numbers.
-
30 May 06: Deferred at Akron. Darn. Guess I'll have to suffer in Florida. Really didn't appreciate the 1-page letter including the word "borderline." Wow, thanks guys!
-
30 May 06: Got nice portfolio and tablet from Appalachian, postmarked two days after my withdrawal. Not nice enough to pay $22.5K a year to attend, though.
