Additional info & updates

I am a non traditional applicant in the sense that I have a checkered past. In the past I have had issues with substance abuse. This is reflected with several arrests. I was arrested several times for drug possesion. I am a convicted felon, 6 years ago I was convicted of posession of cocaine. I have been clean and sober since and not gotten in any trouble. My research has shown that it is possible for me to be a lawyer in Florida since my civil rights have been restored. Any feedback would be valued.

1-11-13: I submitted all 3 of my applications on 11-21-12. I visited each of the campuses before submitting them. I know that FAMU will take a while so I am patiently waiting on them. Nova updated my status to "with committee" on 12-17-12, so I am a little anxious to receive a response from them. When I visited FIU I had a chance to speak to the head dean. I told him a little about my past, and asked if he thought it may hurt my chances of being accepted. He was very nice and told me that since my LSAT and GPA were ok, that I would have a good shot at getting in, he then introduced me to the head of admissions who told me, "you have nothing to worry about". They did tell me that my application would take a little longer to review because of my extenuating circumstances. Fingers crossed, FIU is my number one choice, I will update this as soon as I here anything.

1-17-13: I was accepted into Nova today, and offered an $18,000 scholarship! Super excited!

1-23-13: I have still not heard anything from FIU. I hope to hear something soon. I see a lot of people are getting responses within a week or two. Nova offered me a scholarship with a stipulation to keep a 2.8 GPA. Does anybody know how difficult it is to keep a 2.8 at Nova?

1-29-13: I emailed FIU about my application, and they said that my application is currently with the committee and I should have an answer in the next 2-3 weeks. I will take it as a good sign that I have not been wait listed or rejected yet. I see a lot of people getting fast responses from FIU.

1-30-13: I received an email saying I was accepted to FAMU. No mention of scholarship money. I contacted FAMU and asked if when they would be sending out info regarding scholarships. The lady told me that the scholarship committee would not be meeting until May. I will not know if I am going to recieve a scholarship here until after the April 1 deadline to pay my seat deposit.

2-21-13 It has been a little over 3 weeks since FIU said they would get back to me in the next 2-3 weeks. I submitted my application back in November, has anybody else had to wait this long? I have not been put on hold or on a waitlist according to admissions.
