Additional info & updates

#'s Denote Tier - updated to reflect 2010-2011 rankings.

02/10/10 - Had a campus visit at Buffalo today and met with admissions personnel.

02/22/10 - Rejection from Akron via e-mail. I added a couple more schools to my list.

02/24/10 - Rejected from Penn State via e-mail. It was expected, even though I had a letter of recommendation from an alumni.

03/12/10 - Rejections from Drexel and Villanova. Both via status checker.

03/16/10 - Rejected from Albany via status checker. Also rejected at MSU via status checker. Added Franklin Pierce and Widener.

03/20/10 - Rejected from Buffalo today via snail mail

03/26/10 - Accepted to Cooley via USPS in big envelope postmarked 3/23. Scholarship of 25% tuition.

04/01/10 - I was placed on the waitlist at Case Western!! I'm very surprised because I figured that I'd be quickly rejected there. Although it is an obvious reach for me, it is one of my top choices (if not THE top choice). They let me know in an e-mail titled "Great News From Case Western Reserve University School of Law!"

04/02/10 - Accepted at Widener via e-mail and status checker early this morning! Mailed in my LOCI to Case Western.

04/07/10 - Rejected from Syracuse via snail mail. Dated 3/31.

04/15/10 - WL at Duquesne via snail mail.

04/22/10 - WL at WNEC via snail mail dated 4/19.

04/23/10 - Accepted to Toledo via snail mail!! Dated 4/19. Sent e-mail to Cooley withdrawing my acceptance.

04/26/10 - "Admission not granted" at Franklin Pierce via status checker.

04/28/10 - Sent e-mail to Widener withdrawing my acceptance. It was a tough move, but I decided Toledo is a better fit for me.

04/30/10 - Rejected from Quinnipiac via snail mail.

05/01/10 - Rejected from UConn. Will deposit at Toledo this week!

06/07/10 - Haven't been able to access my account for a while. I'm still hanging out on Duquesne's, Case Western's, and WNEC's waitlists. I have deposited at the University of Toledo and will go there, barring any special circumstances! Have yet to hear from Dayton...?

06/21/10 - Received an e-mail from Case Western stating that they overdeposited the class. 300 people deposited for a class size of usually 200. So, it doesn't look likely that I'll be getting off the waitlist. But I plan to stay on it for the duration of the summer.

06/26/10 - Received waitlist letter from Dayton in the mail today dated 6/21. withdrew from WNEC & Dayton. Will be attending the University of Toledo unless there is some waitlist movement from CWRU.

I'm from the same area and am hoping for some of the schools. I have a bad LSAT score as well, although I am still waiting on my February score and praying its better. I know it seems like a long shot but I wish you the best! I have a Masters and so many other great qualities, its just the damn lsat holding us back! :(

Hey

Hey I have to be honest with you; there are alot of things going against your application right now. One is your LSAT and the second is that you are applying so late. I got a 147 the first time I took it and then took a Kaplan course. It made things alot clearer and I was able to raise my score to a 155. I was able to get a need based waiver which cut the cost in half. You may be better off taking a year off to take a class, raise your score on the June test, and then apply in September that way you would have a much better chance of getting in to Buffalo. I understand everybodies circumstances are different and either way I wish you the best of luck!

Good luck on Case! They recently denied me even though my dad went there and donates a couple thousand a year. It seems being a white female is a disadvantage. Akron dinged me as well :( Let me know what happens with Dayton! I am applying there as well and who knows we might end up at the same school! I too took a Kaplan class but it only helped me increase by one point. So in all honesty I wouldn't recommend taking it since I paid $1,300.00 to increase by a point. If you ever need to vent, feel free to send me a message!

I agree

No I can understand you not wanting to take the exam again. My point is simply to not be afraid to not settle if you cannot get into the schools you want this cycle. Alot of times just applying early helps your chances and by waiting another cycle and trying to ramp up your resume (volunteering, work experience, internships, etc) may be able to give you the edge that will let a school not place as much emphasis on your LSAT.

Good luck

Good for you and your tough skin! I'm impressed!

Widener

I started to get nervous that I'd end up in FL so I also added Widener. Where in NY are you from?

Congrats on the waitlist!

Case

Thanks...good luck to you too. I got waitlisted at a couple schools closer to home so right now I'm headed to CASE. Make sure that you write a letter of continued interest I hear it helps when you have been waitlisted.

UConn

I figured OSU would provide me with a reject letter almost immediately too but I haven't heard anything and its been 6 weeks. I wonder why that is..?

Widener

Hey, sorry to hear about Syracuse, I had been rooting for you. Did you get accepted to the regular Widener program? That answer that was pretty fast, right? I recently applied there as well. Good luck again to you!

I just wanted to let you know...

...that in addition to Syracuse, Case Western tuition is over $40,000 a year too. I've read that Case is your first choice, so I thought I'd share that with you.
