Additional Information

Standardized Tests can suck it...hoping that my strong GPA and extracurrics will give me a shot at some of these T-20's.

Thanks! To be honest, I'm not quite sure. I have pretty good softs, I was involved in a lot of different things on campus. I don't know how heavily your personal statement is weighted, I think mine was decent, but it wasn't about any life changing experience or anything. I also included a "Why UCLA" statement, because I am very familiar with the school and did a program there for 6 weeks and fell in love with it while I was there. Hope that helps! Good luck! Retakes Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009 at 9:00 pm
If you're hoping to reach anything in the T14, I would definitely retake. Most people I've talked to in the mid-160s seem to've received at least a couple points improvement in subsequent tests.

As far as which test, I signed up for the June 2009 test. I think I'll do better when I don't have the stresses of school and (more) work. Hope that helps. snickersnicker
UT Sunday, April 26th, 2009 at 8:48 am
Thanks for the kind words! Yes, getting into UT was certainly a surprise considering my LSAT score. I had advisors telling me similar things... like to not apply to UT or even GW, both of which I got into. So, don't be discouraged and don't be afraid to "reach" a bit. My "softs" aren't great... I think I had average/good LORs, PS, and extra-currics. To help your chances at UT, apply non-binding early decision. I was basically deferred off their early decision list (though they say its not a deferral, but rather just a switch into the regular applicant pool), and was subsequently accepted. Good luck!!! I have a good feeling about Berkeley for you. I am also a public interest person, so Berkeley is up there for me, too.

Good luck. VoidSix
Good Luck! Tuesday, October 6th, 2009 at 11:58 am
Thanks for the support. Here's to hoping that schools realize that GPA is pretty important too lol. I really don't have any huge preferences right now... I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much for a lot of the places I applied to, hoping that I can get surprised and not let down. Keep in touch! zpratt

Thank you! congrats to you as well! We will see, I'm here in San Francisco and would ideally love to stay around here. Looks like you are set up for a great cycle. I wish you all the best!! :) skyhvm
Thanks! Wednesday, November 11th, 2009 at 9:41 pm
UT is pretty much my top choice! I'm retaking the LSAT in December so I'm hoping to get a high enough score to be considered there and hopefully it'll help that I'm a Texas resident. Other than that I'd be excited to go to the West coast, specifically any schools around San Francisco!

What about you? What are your top choices and how high is UT on your list? Also good luck on the rest of your cycle! Stephanie13
Cornell Sunday, November 29th, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I saw that my status checker changed to "Decision." Still waiting on the letter...

Good luck with all your apps, you're off to a great start! veritas85
Cornell Sunday, November 29th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I got my deferral notice from Cornell via snail mail =(

And I'm definitely considering Fordham, but I have to wait on the completion of my cycle before I can make anymore solid decisions.

How about you and Fordham? Seeing as you got into TX, I guess Fordham's off the list? jay115
Monday, November 30th, 2009 at 2:45 pm
Do you know if Fordham will offer aid (merit or otherwise) if we weren't offered any in our initial acceptance packet? jay115
yeah Friday, December 4th, 2009 at 8:30 pm
except the UTX, of which im incredibly jealous.

my next one should be my ED at UCLA, but I'm expecting a WL or rejection due to my numbers. Did you hear back from Cornell/deferred like everyone else? jay115

UCLA's waitlist is quite notorious :( Are you still going to ride it?

Either way, UTX is a fantastic school and you still have to hear from a bunch of other great schools. I haven't quite withdrawn from BC yet, but I'll be sure to tell them to tag my seat for you! – jay115
Hey there! Tuesday, January 12th, 2010 at 11:04 pm
We are indeed numbers twins! More like fraternal twins? Haha. But, in all seriousness, I have actually been watching your cycle secretly (that sounded pretty creepy...I apologize). Huge congrats on UT and Fordham and the other sweet acceptances!

This whole waiting for FR/not FR is making me ancy. But I hold out hope for us. Here's to an amazing rest of your cycle! sandiecohen47
Congrats Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 1:34 pm
Hey, Thanks and Congrats on your acceptances/scholarships as well! As of now I'm leaning towards UT, but cracking the T14 would be unreal. Pray for me for Berkeley as well haha...your top pick? ronakkk
Hi! Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 12:39 pm
Thanks for your message. You have so many good options, I bet you nag Berkeley. I don't really have a top choice as of today, I'm kind of in between schools. I am really waiting for that one acceptance to come through that will really make my cycle! veritas85
congrats Monday, February 8th, 2010 at 1:50 pm
on UT! judging by your cycle so far, i'm guessing you're seriously considering UT? i just got in! are you planning on visiting the campus anytime soon? 86revolt

So have you decided on a school yet? ronakkk
Texas Thursday, April 22nd, 2010 at 4:16 pm
Yes - I went to ASD and fell in love with Austin and the school - everything just seemed to fit. I expected the faculty to be brilliant but in addition, they genuinely seemed to care that students had the best law school experience possible. I'm generally pretty skeptical but they certainly won me over. I can't wait for school to start! Parsons
