Additional Information
3/12/10 - Rough day. Harvard has decided to hold my application for further review, which means more waiting (but at least I'm still under consideration!). Also, I've been crawling out of my skin for months hoping to hear back about the Root-Tilden-Kern Scholarship, but all the finalists were supposed to have heard back by today. Even though I know the applicants for RTK are all superlative, I can't say I'm not a little disappointed that I no longer have a chance to be a part of that program. As someone who wants to go into public interest (specifically LGBT) law, NYU is an extremely attractive school, so this doesn't rule NYU out by any means.
3/4/10 - Under review at Chicago by online status checker...
3/1/10 - Just got a letter from Vanderbilt to the tune of $27,000/year. This seriously shakes things up, yet again. Withdrawing from Virginia: there's no reason for me to ride the waiting list when I already have so many generous offers from schools higher up on my list. Hopefully, this will speed things along for somebody else on the waiting list!
2/20/10 - Violet envelope -- in at NYU! I have some serious thinking to do, especially if I don't get any scholarship money from my top choices. Columbia, NYU, and Berkeley are all great schools for sexual orientation law. I'm going to Columbia's admitted student days in early March, so hopefully I'll be able to sort some things out then.
2/18/10 - Called the NYU Office of Admissions today to make sure my application had gone complete; found out I'm going to get a decision soon...
2/11/10 - Just got my first non-admission -- waitlisted at Virginia by e-mail. This news does not bode well for Harvard/Yale/NYU, but this could definitely just be an outlier.
1/29/10 - In at Illinois with a full ride! This cycle has been incredible.
1/25/10 - In at Texas by voicemail from Dean Ingram!
UPDATE: AND in at Columbia by snail mail! Holy cow!
1/22/10 - In at Michigan via snail mail! Extremely unexpected, as the online status check still does not say "Decision." A very nice handwritten note from Dean Zearfoss included.
1/15/10 - Under review now at Harvard, Yale, and Illinois (by status checker/e-mail).
1/11/10 - Acceptances are rolling: just got a very nice e-mail from Dean Tom telling me I've been accepted to Berkeley!
1/8/10 - Received an unprompted e-mail from Vanderbilt today telling me about signing up for their upcoming admitted student days. I hadn't gotten any official word (phone, mail, e-mail) from Vanderbilt that I had been accepted yet, so I was a little confused. I guess I'm going to go ahead and assume that I've been accepted. So, uh, hooray (probably)!
UPDATE: Received an e-mail not long afterward confirming that the previous e-mail was only sent to admitted students, and that my admissions packet would be arriving soon. Hooray (definitely)!
UPDATE: The Vanderbilt acceptance box came in the mail today. Very exciting to get a large, heavy package!
12/30/09 - All my applications are finally in (finished the David J. Epstein essay and sent off the UCLA application). Now we play the waiting game.
12/24/09 - Finally finished my NYU application. Only one more to go - UCLA - and then I can really relax and wait for decisions to roll in.
12/18/09 - In at William & Mary with $17,200/year.
12/16/09 - In at Wisconsin! Woohoo! Still waiting on the Root-Tilden-Kern letter for NYU, and still procrastinating on the David J. Epstein business for UCLA.
12/9/09 - Finished the Yale 250 today and sent that application out. Just waiting on a letter of recommendation so I can apply for the Root-Tilden-Kern Scholarship at NYU, and still thinking about writing the extra essay for the David J. Epstein Program at UCLA. Both things, I think, will be done by the end of the week. Then, the waiting truly begins.
11/11/09 - Got a hand-signed letter from Columbia Outlaws, which is by far the classiest response I've yet gotten from a student group. UCLA (OUTLaw)'s and Harvard (Lambda)'s responses to my e-mail were also extremely impressive.
10/19/09 - Retook the LSAT in September and just got my scores back. I went from a 163 to a 175, which changes pretty much the entire game for me. I might put more info up here as the process continues, if there's any demand for it.

Good Luck Thursday, October 15th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Best of luck with your cycle once you start applying! We have identical scores and are applying to a lot of the same schools, so here's to hoping we both get what we want out of these applications!
