Additional Information

35 year old gay white pre law student. Major in Political Science with minor in Criminology.

11.20.09 CalWestern will not be sending out email confirmations of apps received until sometime in December.

Oak City has an online status checker, too bad it has been not working for over a week now.

Texas Southern has not responded to 5 phone calls trying to see what my app is missing. Maybe a registered letter will do the trick.

11/07/09 So Barry rejected me. Was not really wanting to go to Florida though. Texas says missing docs, not sure what, they seem to take some time in replying to emails and voice mails. I really want to go to Detroit or as close to there as I can. With my interest in public interest and public defense the opportunities there are limitless.

10/31/09 received a form from CUNY stating they do not grant application fee waivers. I sent an email asking my application be withdrawn. A silly policy considering not only their ranking but their claim at social justice and stance. Hmm, seems a tad hypocritical. Oh well, next!

10/30/09 My first of MANY rejections from Western State. 10 whole days to reject me. They did not even wait to get all the letters of recommendations before the rejection. Must be all about LSAT score for them. Oh well.

10/20/09 So took LSAT for second time, and still blew the score. This sounds so typical of those that do not do well, but, I have never done well on multiple choice exams and standardized tests. Oh well, I am hoping that someone will accept me, I just need the education and then pass the bar. A means to an end.

6/17/09 hate waiting for the LSAT score. another two weeks or so until it is emailed. Sent out a lot of requests for app fee waivers, interested to see who gives one.

6/7/09 Nervous about LSAT tomorrow.Very anxious. I do hope I do well.

4/2/09 still studying for LSAT in June. The LSAT prep books are seemingly helpful. Have gotten several letters from schools whose tables I visited during the forum in March. UNLV had the rep that seemed most uninterested in talking about her school. Kind of cold and difficult to get more than a 2 or 3 word answer from her. I certainly will not apply.

3/3/09 just got back from the San Francisco LSAC forum. Wow, what a great experience. So many schools, so many admission folks here giving great advise to those that wanted it and asked for it. The LSAT forum given by a designer of the test was very informative as well. If you have a chance to go to one of these, please do so. Make sure you take a good bag/backpack to carry all the info you receive.

3/1/09 excited to go the the forum in San Fran tomorrow. I will be flying in to Oakland and then take the Bart. Wondering if anyone out there has any info about Kaplan and their LSAT prep courses. Any good, or worth it?

2/21/09 Just registered for the LSAT for June in Salem, OR. Also for the San Francisco forum on March 2. Anyone ever go to one and have advice?

I nearly freaked out at the first section of the LSAT. Turns out it was the one that didn't count! Don't let that happen to you.

When you go to the forum, they'll give you a list of all schools in attendance. Sit down and mark all the ones you feel are MUST see. Visit all those, then go back and get info from as many others as you can get to in the time they're open. Don't count anyone out. You'll be surprised at what might be out there that you hadn't considered but could be a great fit for many different reasons that are personal to you. Sign the list at each table - that's how I got a few of my application fee waivers.

Be sure to check out the sessions offered as well. The FinAid one was good.

Good luck! singlemom

Great advice. I actually printed out the table map provided on the website and marked all that I want to visit. I surely will make a second round to visit those that I have not considered.
I am looking forward to the talks about both financial aid and LSAT. andrewbridge

i'm not entirely sure if it has boosted my scholarship amounts. the schools i've been accepted to so far have been at or below my numbers, so that might have something to do with it...but i'm sure it didn't hurt.

my thoughts re: diversity statement are basically "why not include it?" it's like a urm choosing not to identify as urm for whatever reason--whatever boost you have that could get you into whatever number better school, why wouldn't you use it?!

good luck on your cycle! tseliot

Hey, just so you know, it was not me who left that comment on mljoh3's profile. I would never make a comment like that (I also didn't even apply to Duke)

Someone is impersonating me, and has been doing the same to various other users.

Any time you see a comment from "shaggier1" that does not link back to a profile, it is not me. Shaggier1

how did you get all those fee-waivers that would have been nice to know when I was applying. Well good luck with your cycle hopefully it works out for you, I know one guy at my school that got in with a 137 and he ended up making the dean's list first semester. Well good luck to you. bigs5068

Retake it! you have nothing to lose. I did, and I went from a 136 to a 147. A school that had initially rejected me, accepted me with a $24,000 scholarship. Best of luck to you! – anonymous
