Congrats on the acceptances! I actually preferred Pace to Touro when I visited. I'm bet Touro will offer you some money though. I'm hoping for Cuny and anxiously waiting just like you. Good luck!

Did you hear from Suffolk via status checker or snail mail? And if it was by snail mail did your status change too or does it still say In Review?

Haven't checked my profile in a bit. I appreciate the kind words. Congrats on your Hofstra acceptance. I'm leaning towards American if accepted. However, I like the SU national sec law focus. We shall see.

Yes, in at Suffolk! I've been hemming and hawing over where to go because of scheduling, money, and ranking but I just heard from Northeastern today that I'm Waitlisted so now I'll be waiting to see if I get in there before making any final decisions! At this point its Suffolk if not Northeastern. It's so nice to have options! Have you decided where you are going?

Just f.y.I. there are NY firms that interview at UMinnesota (check out NALP's employer directory) and you can always come back to the east coast to practice (especially with a degree from a t20 school). Sorry if this seems random but I saw that you were considering Hofstra (which is a very good school in its own right) over UMN and I thought that I should throw in my 2 cents.

Thanks for the heads-up, ClassicFan. I visited Minnesota and the trip was way more exhausting than I thought it would be. I just can't be that far away from my family. It's certainly nice to be wanted by them though! I was quite impressed!

Can you explain why Hofstra over Brooklyn? Not only is Brooklyn 24 rankings above Hofstra, but its job prospects are superior. It's like attending Pace or Touro over Hofstra.

If you really compare their numbers, Brooklyn doesn't place THAT much higher than Hofstra. It's not like I chose Hofstra over Fordham or UConn. Besides, once I graduate I'm joining my father's small law firm (15-30 attorneys), so I'm not overly concerned with external job placement. Also, Hofstra has a solid reputation (unlike Touro or NYLS) as does Pace (it truly does, especially in the Westchester County area). Locally, that is... I'm not claiming that any of these schools have national portability. Both are solid Tier 2, regional schools. Further, no one really cares if your school was ranked #60 or #84 enough to justify paying sticker at Brooklyn over a scholarship at Hofstra. I don't know if you have actually been to these schools but they are VERY different and have drastically different environments. I felt much more comfortable at Hofstra. This isn't like picking Touro over Hofstra. This is like picking Villanova over Temple. I guess it's really just a personal preference. Honestly, I'd rather go to a school that still has a decent local reputation, pocket the extra 20k and go where I feel comfortable than be a rankings whore. That's just me though.

Sorry I didn't know all that--I feel stupid. Do you have any idea how low of an LSAT score Brooklyn would accept considering the 25th percentile is 157?

I don't think there's an absolute cutoff like that. It depends on a lot like URM status and GPA, as well as the stats of the other people applying for those same seats. Just do the best you can on the LSAT and hope for the best!

I actually did write nyls a loci. I opted not to do the video interview because the questions they require you to answer were all discussed in my personal statement. I did not want to sound redundant.

I'm surprised you didn't get accepted to Rutgers. If you dont mind me asking, were there any other factors that might of played a role?

I honestly don't know why Rutgers rejected me. It doesn't really matter though because I would have picked a couple of the schools I got into over Rutgers anyway.
