thx for your comment, it is a stressful process to be sure. god knows i am stressed about not having enough safeties! looks like you spread out your apps all over the place, that combined with your ECs and background will help make sure you get in somewhere! keep in touch~

What appeals to me are the history, tradition, collegiality, location, and honor code. Basically I formed an image in my mind of the school I was looking for, and after visiting, decided W&M was it. And I love Virginia. Any insider info for me? Email me if convenient. Best of luck on your apps too!!!

Good luck!

Thanks a bunch...but I;m a firm believer that it's not where you go, but what you do where you are that matters (or at least, should matter). I guess like most people, my top choice would be Yale...but good luck on that one, ya know? So I don't really know...I think money is going to play a large factor short of HYS....but I see you've applied to BU. It's one of the prettiest and best positioned law schools I've visited. I don't know where it stands in your rankings, but I think it's an awesome school.

I've seen him on CSPAN and my fav prof speaks of him all the time. If I got that fellowship it would be game over.

Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time studying at the law school there and I really like the campus, during the day at least. It can be pretty sketchy at night, though...I'd really like to be somewhere new for law school (read: NYC, Boston, Midwest, Cali) since I may not get a chance to live there in the future. The law is basically the law wherever you study and for those students who are willing to go the extra mile to get the info/resources they need...it shouldn't effect their legal training. Yet the law profession is like it is, a huge prestige-whore...so we'll have to see how much I'm willing to play into that whole game. I just love Boston so much...but it's the kind of place I would want to end up living, which puts it on the lower end of places I'd like to go, since I really feel I'd want to live there in the future. Basically, I *heart* Boston.

Thanks for the congrats on Richmond! Have you considered attending one of their upcoming open-houses? They seem to be real big on the "personal touch"...this might put you over the top! Good luck either way!

Thanks for the comment! I actually did fill out the diversity requirement. I am certainly hoping my gpa helps me out. I agree with you though; I studied the entire summer for the lsats, but it just didn't work out.... Good luck with all of your applications!

Thanks!

Good luck to you too!! We definitly applied to a lot of the same schools. It's a nice list!! The waiting is killing me...

Best of luck!

I really think you have a shot at your reaches with your soft factors. Every year, there's a handful of people with numbers below schools 25 percentile that get in cause they're just that interesting... and I bet you'll be one of them!

Sunday, November 20 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks again for the congrats arhodg! I'm sooo stoked right now...especially about W&M. It was one of the schools I targeted even before taking the LSAT. I visited and just loved the school. B/t/w, I couldn't help but notice you're a W&M grad...how do you like the area? What is your impression of how the law students like the school? Does it appear that the new renovations will be completed on schedule (on the website it listed summer 2006 for completion of the new addition...spring 2007 for the old library)? Sorry for all the questions. Good luck with all you're apps my friend!

thanks for your encouragement! Money is my main issue so my decision with Pace is binding depending on them offering me some financial package. Cardozo was my reach... I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Good Luck with all your apps, you have enough of them! I bet you hear from someone soon!

Good luck to you too! (I came across your LSN from LSD - that's how I knew you were WM). I've taken a bunch of amst classes here: did 370 spring 05, carson's dec. arts, mcgovern's pop music, lots of american history classes as well (almost all of them above 400), and of course, my wonderful thesis that will torment me all next semester

you'll get in somewhere. You have very good "soft factors" and your numbers aren't bad. You and I have similar numbers so I will be rootin for ya

I kinda wish the scale was the same as the October one was because I would've gotten a 161. As long as I get into Nova or PSU now I'll be happy.

Suffolk
Wednesday, January 11 2006 at 07:00 PM

I see your "arhodg" around a few different forums. You seem to be very interested in Suffolk. Our hard numbers are comparable; I was accepted in mid-December. It is very likely that I will be attending (contingent upon other apps and $$). Let me know if you want to talk about Suffolk.

Suffolk Fee Waiver
Sunday, August 07 2005 at 08:00 PM

i'm wondering why you didn't obtain a fee waiver from suffolk. i saved $60 doing so and it was a relatively easy process. on the albany waitlist, you're probably better off. no one in upstate NY wants to go there, believe me. if you're going to pay for a overpriced upstate NY school, apply to SU. at least you get the prestige factor and the name recognition.

Hey congratulations on NYLS! I hope to hear from them soon, although I can't imagine attending without a serious scholarship. Any school that you are leaning towards? I think I'll be off to Pace next year.

Vermont
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yes, vermont was my #1, but I don't think I want to move that far! It is such a hard decision. I don't know what to do! I think you have a great shot at Pace, but how can you pass up a 20K scholarship!!!

Congrats and Continued Good Luck
Friday, October 21 2005 at 08:00 PM

Hey arhodg, Thanks for the congrats! I think my top choices are probably Franklin Pierce and Washington, because of their IP programs, and W&M. You liked W&M? Did you like the area - is it good for a family?

NYLS!
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

CONGRATS! Thats awesome. Hopefully I will get in as well and I'll see you there? How long did it take them to complete your app? They still haven't request my report from LSDAS and I sent it in last week...

Decisions
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

I have a whole lot of schools to hear back from. I am leaning towards ALS right now, just because of their huge scholarship offer. I'm need of plenty $$.

NYLS
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yep - I did not understand NYLS's decision. I atleast expected a deferment. But anywho, I would not have gone there, as it is a mad $$ school in a mad $$ city.

URM?
Monday, November 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

As you are half american-indian, are you considered a URM?

UCONN
Friday, September 09 2005 at 08:00 PM

Thanks for your comment!! The Dean called me this past Sunday (2/19) on my cell phone. I was really surprised because I just applied less than a month ago and sent them my PS/Dean's Cert. a week after I applied. They seem like a great school. I'm going to visit as soon as I can. I really hope you get in! I saw your post on LSD about them...hang in there :)

Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hey! I don't usually respond in my own profile, but I didn't have any othr way to reach you. Thanks for the kind words and don't worry I a completely not offended. When you said "in other words i think you would've gotten into all those schools if you were white. " did you mean NOT white? I think that was what you were going for, but I wasn't sure. As to your question, I did write that I was both white and American Indian. Legally, I could have indicated just NA b/c my percentage is pretty high, but morally it was not the right choice for me because my life experience was more informed as a white person. I did mark both because I experienced a lot of racial discrimination growing up that is traditionally associated with minority candidates. As for the diversity statement, yes I wrote one, but it focused on educational and socioeconomic factors. Of two of the schools I've gotten into , I have received info. on minority programs/scholarships. Ultimately, what you do next year (as far as ethnicity to mark) is up to you and what cultures you identify with. Email me or pm me on LSD if you want to discuss it further. Good luck!

Suffolk
Wednesday, December 28 2005 at 07:00 PM

Hi, I'm choosing to go to suffolk b/c all of my friends are in Boston and I think I'll be lonely in Hartford... but a better reason is that Suffolk, where it is in Boston and has such a large number of active alumni, in my opinion would offer me much more of a networking opportunity than if I went to Hartford (I want to ultimately practice in Boston)... not to mention the half-tuition scholarship didn't hurt.... Good luck with your apps :)

W&L decision...
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

i am very very sad to hear that W&L rejected you... i tried to talk to Andrea and Sarah, but i don't think W&L cares if i go there or not. at any rate, you still have many options, and i wish you the best!

Frank
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

Thanks for the vote of confidence (I think) in regards to getting into higher ranked schools. I really don't know what (besides my numbers) is keeping me out of T2/T1 schools- my essay was approved by a veteran of ls admissions (over a dozen years' experience with top schools) and my lors were top notch (one from a ls prof who I took a ls class with, one from a prof who said she wrote amazing lors, and another from a crime and justice prof), so I don't think my luck would change any from this year to next.

Wednesday, March 08 2006 at 07:00 PM

hi there! I withdrew via email on monday. The phone call i received was sometime back in january and was then followed by a big packet to my permanent address in CT. Anyway, I still feel like i'm completely in the middle of the process ( 15 more schools to hear from!) but good luck to you! It sounds like you have some pretty good acceptances as well!

RUTGERS!!!
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Congratulations on Rutgers, it's a great school. Just curious...did you apply based on their (GPA & LSAT) or their experience based criteria. Our numbers are close, and I have been sweating it out as long as you were...

Rutgers over Syracuse
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

Although I'd be happy with either, I'd take Rutgers over Syracuse. Higher US news rank (73 vs 95), and better job placement & $$$ in NYC. I sat in on a Prop. class, and the Prof. was pretty good. Check ratemyprofessor.com for student eval of profs.

Congrats
Saturday, February 05 2005 at 07:00 PM

on Rutgers! That's a great school! I'm glad to see you having some more acceptances to choose from. Are they at the top of your list?

so?
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

any ideas as to where you may end up? congrats on your options so far. let me know

rutgers
Sunday, December 04 2005 at 07:00 PM

i'd totally go with rutgers if i were you. you can establish residency after a yr of school and you will get in-state tuition..depends on where you want to practice though, but rutgers is pretty well respected on the east coast. good luck with your decision!

full out twins

Sunday, February 05 2006 at 07:00 PM

congrats on the acceptances, but hey if you decide to not attend rutgers, could you please inform the admissions office whenever you make your decision?

B-Thanks for the Advice!
Wednesday, November 30 2005 at 07:00 PM

I am very intewrested in IP law, it is what I plan to do for the long-term and then possibly end up in government and eventually academia if the opportunity presents itself (which I know is unlikely right now). Right now I am pretty torn between Rutgers, Cuse, and FP (I need to crunch some numbers as far as tuition is concerned), I will likey turn in some wdraws next week. I definitely want to practice in Boston, but not sure I want to hold out for Suffolk's WL and would turn down Rutgers for them, esp. given high tuition. But, yea, Boston is by far my first choice. Thanks for all of your advice, I will probably email you soon for more detailed assitance, I really appreciate your insight, esp. given that we seem to have similiar opinions and your background reseach seems very extensive. Thanks again!

hey!
Monday, March 20 2006 at 07:00 PM

yes, i'm originally from hawaii. and uh just opened their center for hawaiian law and i really want to study there, but you're right, i don't think i could actually go back home for such a long period of time. the instate tuition is tempting though... and, wow!, you got in to some great schools! congratulations!!! keep in touch, we islanders have to stick together!

Thanks
Thursday, February 23 2006 at 07:00 PM

For the congrats on Mason - I really hope I can get in. I'm working on my letter right now, but I want to make sure to get it just right before sending it out. Do you plan to stay on the Richmond waitlist? I like Mason better, but I think I'd prefer to be at Richmond over the other schools. I'm really torn between Nova and Syracuse. Syracuse is a great school and the scholarship is a big help, but getting a good job is probably easier out of Nova; plus, the climate (weather) is much better. Are you pretty much settled on Syracuse at this point?

Hey!
Wednesday, December 21 2005 at 07:00 PM

pretty much set on UVA, it's a good place for me and the "family" to move and gtown didn't give any love. the SO had a hard time w/smaller towns, which I can understand. haven't withdrawn from W&L/W&M yet, just can't quite bring myself to do it, tho I have to soon... where are you leaning now?!

hip hip
Saturday, March 25 2006 at 07:00 PM

hey hey! Yay for you and your waitlist. Still a chance. And think, then you wouldn't have to move or break up with your bf (or non-bf, you just keep telling yourself that). Kisses! -britt
