Congratulations on BC and the $ at Hastings - such an attractive applicant

I don't know too much about the east coast schools since I didn't really want to be in that region, but I think that you should definitely go to UCLA if you get in (or Kent with the $). I am visiting Iowa tomorrow, but it will take a lot to sway me from Kent. Have fun in Boston. I'm actually going to be in NYC on Monday I think.

Change of plans - I think I am going to go to Iowa now

Because I found out that I can get in-state tuition after the first year if I become a research assistant or write on a journal.

BC vs BC

BC or BU is a very personal choice. I think that in the past BC has been the obvious choice but a few years ago BU cut their class size so the percetion of the quality of their student (in the eyes of employers) has gone up. When the new rankings came out I did worry a little bit about my choice of BC but frankly the rankings are bogus (and BU is known to hire a number of unemployed grads to artificailly inflate their employment rate). One major factor in my decision was the stats of NLJ250 placement. This surveys placement at the 250 most significant big and mid sized law firms in the US. Outside of the T14 and Vandy, BC had the largest percentage of their grads (just about 40%) going to these firms. BU was not in the top 20. I firmly believe that BC will land me a great job. A second reason I chose BC was talking to students. I post quite a bit at lawschooldiscussion.org ... several BC 1 and 2Ls have routinely come by the board to let us know hwo they feel about BC. Examples of their experiences: a 1L who had been WLed by BU, GW etc. already has a summer associate position with Skadden; A 2L who is around the 50% mark in his class who got 12 interviews and 3 offers from V100 firms in California. Opportunities abound. Third reason: journals ... BC has some cool journals that fit with my academic interests. Being on a journal is real important to me, so this was a big factor. 4th: the reputation of BC as a collegial school ... I want to have some fun at law school. I come from a real laid back UG and I want law school to remain as stress-free as law school can be. I think I'll have a great time, and you will too.

i forgot to say, email me if you have any more questions about why I chose the way I did.

So are you definitely going to BC next year or will you go to UCLA if you get off the waitlist? I am definitely going to Iowa since I did not make a seat payment at Minnesota or Kent. Good luck in making decision. I'll meet you in Boulder for Homecoming next year.

That's awesome that you found a school that you really loved. I felt the same way about Iowa when I visited. I am excited to get started, but I'm sure that will fade very quickly.
