Nothing really noteworthy in college, except for being an English conversation tutor to a Korean graduate student.

Since then:

Currently teaching English at Nagasaki Minami Commercial High School in Japan. Placed through the JET Programme. I'll be here for a total of two years, ending 1 August 2005.

Block Representative for JET Programme participants in the Nagasaki City area (approximately 30 people).

English converation tutor for individuals in the Nagasaki City area.

Decent conversational ability in Japanese.

Additional info & updates

Discounts ("Merit Scholarships"):
Brooklyn: $15,000/year
Cardozo: $17,500/year
Indiana: $8,000/year
Richmond: $10,000/year
Tulane: $10,000/year

Richmond's acceptance came via e-mail. It said they usually notify admitted applicants by phone, but e-mailed me because I'm in Japan. A mailed packet followed shortly after. Deposit deadline is 15 April.

Brooklyn's acceptance came via e-mail. Several high-quality mailed packets have followed. Deposit deadline is 1 April.

Indiana's acceptance came in a nondescript business envelope. I was nervous until I read it. It included a hand-written note from the dean. Does everyone receive this? No deposit; commitment deadline is 8 April. The letter said if I need more time I can ask for it.

Cardozo's acceptance came via e-mail. They sent a basic packet shortly after. Deposit deadline is 13 April.

Tulane notified me by e-mail, and a large packet has followed.

Minnesota's deferral notice came in a business envelope. They said they defer the majority of their applicants, and to expect a decision by 30 May.

Rejected from Georgetown. Disappointed, but not surprised.

American notified me of my acceptance via e-mail. A packet followed shortly after, by FedEx. The deposit ($700!!!) deadline is 15 April.

Baltimore's acceptance came in a plain white business envelope. The deposit is due 20 days after the date of the letter, 5 April. They apparently lost my in-state tuition application; they sent me fresh copies. It's moot anyway as I won't be going there.

Wisconsin's waitlist notification came in a business envelope.

W&L e-mailed me a PDF of my waitlist letter because I am overseas.

Wake's acceptance came via e-mail. A packet followed.

Washington U in StL sent me my waitlist info in a business envelope. I have to send them a form confirming that I want to stay on the waitlist.

Held at Maryland. Letter came in a big-size envelope and fooled me into thinking it was an acceptance. I'm not that interested in Maryland anymore anyway, though, partly because they have denied me in-state tuition status.

Denied at GW.

Admitted at Minnesota! I think I might go there. Notification came via e-mail, following an e-mail asking if I was still interested.

Admitted at Temple, finally, by e-mail.

Yes, I'm sure they said 30 May, and yes, I do think it's a bit late. But it is what it is.

Thanks Iffy. I agree, it seems really friendly. Unfortunately I think American is a better fit for me right now because my main interest is in International Law. Good luck with the ones you're waiting on.
