Additional info & updates

3.8.2011 - apps went out about a few weeks ago, and so far Case, American, and Penn-Dickinson are not happening. Not shocked about Case and American, but being WL at Nova I thought Dickinson would work out. No surprise about UB, and given that I want to stay close to MD, I might end up there. Seton and Hawai'i are good schools but not serious considerations given locations. Hoping for my alma mater (UMD Law is based in Baltimore), but my GPA makes me a longshot. Catholic would be nice, Temple's a maybe given location.

3.22.2011 - heard from UH Richardson, not happening. Pretty demoralizing considering their rank, and I was starting to think more seriously about either UB or waiting for next cycle and trying to score 170 on LSAT. But heard from my sister back home that UMD sent me a decision: waitlisted! Very happy about that, and very thankful considering the recent rankings have UMD up to 41st now. UMD Law would be so awesome, it's a great school still on the come up, and its location allows me to stay close to my family. Still waiting on my other good option ("good" given rank and location), Catholic in DC. A second-tier school, which isn't bad at all, but location in DC makes it as good an option as the lower tier 1s.

*add'liInfo for UMD Law hopefuls: I have received emails delivering decisions from all replying schools so far. UMD does not send decisions via email, but they do notify applicants that a decision has been made. I did not receive an email, so it seems they might not send it out for WLers.

5.17.2011 - seems almost all decisions are in now. A few surprises, but I'm not so disappointed at how many rejections I received given my GPA. Temple emailed asking if I would be interested in their evening (i.e. part-time) program, so I suppose I'm accepted there. Still, UMD is the only school I really want, so fingers are crossed until I hear from them (WL review starts end of May). If UMD doesn't happen, I'm likely looking at waiting until next year. UB just isn't viable given their rank, and any other school that has accepted/WL'd me isn't too appealing given my wish to stay in the DC/Baltimore area. If I end up waiting til next cycle, I'll prob do LSAT twice more and try to nail a 170, giving me a real shot at T30 schools!

6.27.2011 - last week received word from UMD that they would be making a decision on my waitlist status soon - they told me I would most likely be accepted! The admissions officer who contacted me said that once the decision was made, likely early this week, she would be back in touch with me to let me know what's what. But Friday evening she sent me an email asking me to contact her (I'm in South Korea, a 13-hour time difference from the East coast, so to speak with me on the phone last week I was sent an email asking me to call when convenient), so maybe the decision has already been made. Just 4 more hours or so until business hours in Maryland, so I'm feeling pretty anxious waiting to call them. Hope they weren't calling to tell me that a mistake had been made and that I won't be accepted. I'll post back here after I speak with UMD - likely my last contribution to this thing!

-accepted! I'm officially Tier-1!
