Additional info & updates

Date Complete is the date my LSAC Report was sent to the School. I didn't feel like going through my emails and pulling out what days the schools considered everything complete. They're around that general timeframe with the exception of Cornell and Minnesota which wrote me a few weeks after my report was sent.

12/15/05: Applied Early Action to Georgetown, Received Letter just before promised deadline

Applied to GW, did not receive Email offering acceptance, so when my letter came I expected it to be a rejection. Wait list was a nice surprise.

1/19/06: Received Email of Acceptance from Catholic, which was followed-up by formal letter in the mail the following day.

01/23/06: Received a large package from Ohio State in the mail yesterday, got excited until I realized it was a scholarship application... that they send to all applicants.

1/25/06: Online status check for Ohio State now says decision...

1/27/06: I got into American! I received a large package containing a folder of materials, sent by overnight USPS.

1/30/06: When I didn't get a phone call from OSU, I figured I was rejected. Then today I got a small envelope (kinda thick, but still small) and figured it was official. But to my surprise it was an acceptance! Woo Hoo!

UMN was a no, but that's okay. Minnesota's kind of far.... Received a small, thin envelope.

1/31/06: Got my phone call from OSU today. It was the guy I met at the law school fair letting me know I was accepted and asking if I had any questions.

2/9/06: Received small off-white envelope from Fordham. At least now I have an excuse... "Sorry mom, I really tried, but I guess I can't move back home.... "

2/25/06: Small envelope from GMU. It would have been nice to get in-state tuition, but oh well.

3/6/06: Received a small off-white envelope from Cornell with my rejection. Definitely no surprises there.

3/17/06: Went to visit OSU for their open house. I was really impressed by the school and the faculty. We sat with professors and students during lunch and every one was very friendly and welcoming. I was very impressed by the variety of and involvement in clinics, and was especially excited about the legislation clinic. The law school is the usual, one building, but the campus is gynormous!

3/22/06 - Wow, I was waitlisted to UVA. Now that's something I never expected. Who knows what the odds are of getting taken off the waitlist, but it's still a nice surprise either way.

3/29/06- UF Acceptance by email.

3/29/06- Waitlisted to William & Mary, received regular-sized envelope. I'm popular on the waitlists apparently.

Once your file was complete, how long did it take to hear from Georgetown and GW? Also, how did they notify you?

Hope this Helps

I applied to Georgetown Early Action by November 15th and heard back right before their notification deadline, around 12/16. I applied to GW during the first week of November (file was complete soon thereafter) and got my WL letter last week. Hope that helps!

Thank you...

...for your kind words. I am very thankful for the cycle that I am having. I don't think the UofMN acceptance has hit me yet. I am still in shock. I am visiting the school shortly, so I think that is when it will hit me fully! Good luck on the rest of your aps! What is your top choice? v/r

Thank you

Decisions
Monday, January 02 2006 at 07:00 PM

How is your decision process going in regards to the PT programs versus FT programs? I am debating between Case Western and American PT. If American were FT I am pretty sure I would pick it over Case, but I'm just not sure due to the PT aspect.

Yep, that was my undergrad school. I was wondering the same thing about how alumni status is taken into consideration for the law school, so I really don't know either. It looks like you have some great choices so far. A great friend of mine is currently a 2L at St. John's and she is having a great time. She's doing clinics and really seems to be getting a lot out of her classes. If you want to work in NY, I know there are a lot of alumni in the area. Brooklyn is a great school too, but I hear the environment is extremely competitive, so keep that in mind. Best of luck on the waitlists, but it looks like you've got some great quality schools to choose from already :)
