Extra Curricular Information

I run three successful websites, am a published author and freelance writer, and have done public advocacy speaking about autism and autism spectrum disorders. I have had two internships, one at school and one while studying abroad. I will be starting my third this spring at the student legal services office at my school. I have volunteered for LGBT organizations and events.

Additional info & updates

I am honestly not sure what my chances are for any of the schools I am applying to. Any advice would be welcomed. I am looking to study/practice in New England and/or France if possible. Right now, my priority is getting into a school with a decent scholarship package or in-state tuition so as not to accumulate debt. I am hoping that my softs, which I believe to be very unusual and interesting, and LOR will help. We'll see.

11/4: I am updating all of my completed application information to include the sent date, received date, completed date, and when it is ready, the decision date! Whenever that happens, that is. As of today, all of my applications are still either under review or complete and undecided. Pity as I wanted to have a spot of good news before the election. ;-) Regardless, I will try to keep the information as current and accurate as possible to help others in their cycles. Please feel free to ask me any questions that you have about my cycle or the application process.

As of today, I have done two large batches of applications, both in September. I am now completing the last of my schools and am aiming to be completely finished applying on 11/10.

11/26: Applications mainly done, and I got my first decision: dinged from Washington and Lee via email! They sent out an ominous email about knowing the decision by the end of the business day, which made for a tense afternoon. Not the best way to start the cycle, but I'm holding out. Sigh.

12/3: Traveled out of the country to interview with Vanderbilt, seemed to go well. I am hopeful and excited!

12/6: A big, somewhat crappy, day of decisions. Dinged at Cornell and Fordham via letter in the mail, in at QU and NYLS, both via email and mail. I feel like it's going to go this way for a while- in at a few third tiers, out at T15, and hopefully, I'll meet somewhere in the middle. I'm nervous.

12/16: Pleasant news from both QU and UMinn- waitlisted at UMinn via email was a surprise, and I'm excited to see if I'll get in, and a $30,000 yearly scholarship from QU! Things are getting pretty interesting now.

12/18: Waitlisted at UConn, so I'm starting to get really nervous at this point. Emailed and told them they were my 1st choice and am providing an additional LOR and updated resume (I had another job in the interim) and will see what happens. However, doesn't look like a scholarship is likely, though I cannot be sure.

12/21: In at Pace via email, though it was a strange one- headed "Holiday Greetings" with a notice of acceptance at the bottom. A little bizarre given the casual nature of the email, but they said a more formal mailed notice would follow. No word on scholarships yet.

1/01: Received packets from Pace, NYLS, and Lewis and Clark. No scholarship info at Pace or L&C, NYLS offered $20,000 for the first year, non-renewable, hence the division of approximately $6,500 per year to keep yearly scholarship info consistent. QU still offering 30k, with the potential of a Dean's Fellow scholarship of 43k plus 1.5k yearly stipend- fingers crossed!

1/07: WL at Brooklyn, in at Seton Hall with scholarship offer in the mail. Brooklyn applicants, I didn't know about the WL until I checked my spam filter- whoops! If this is an issue with their server, please make sure you check yours, too, or keep updating the online status check.

2/01: In at Vermont for traditional, rejected for accelerated. No word on scholarship yet.

5/07: Whoa, what a week! Everything happened all at once- in at American, in at Brooklyn with $20/k, and finally, in at UConn. In-state tuition and a potential scholarship, plus a desire to work in NY/East Coast makes the decision very easy for me. I'm curious to see what will happen with UMinn, if for no other reason than to get an idea of what their demos were for this cycle. It's been fantastic! I'm very pleased with the results and am happy to answer any questions you have about my year. :-)

Go Huskies!

Good luck with the application process. I have notice that we have similar stats (im taking the LSAT Dec 1) and am interested in going to Uconn and Brooklyn law school. Can you please keep me posted with those two schools. Uconn is my reach especially because I am a Connecticut resident and the cost to attend would be beneficial compared to Quinnipiac which ranks lower than Uconn. Thanks and again good luck with everything.
