Additional info & updates

Scholarships reflect 3 year totals.

1/11 - In at McGeorge via snail mail! Props to McGeorge for the lighting fast turnaround. 20k a year scholarship and free books for the first year. Money is renewable with stipulations, meh. Regardless, I'm happy my first letter was an acceptance!!

1/19 - Waitlisted at W&L. This was totally expected. I applied late and had weak numbers. Will probably withdraw soon. I applied because they sent me a packet early on and I have a friend from high school who went and loved it. Goodluck to others on the waitlist.

1/30 - Rejected from Hastings. Totally expected. Not really bummed because it wasn't my first choice, but it's never fun to get the big X. I'm hoping my cycle will pick back up again and I'll get some better news!

3/16 - In at USD!!! This was my second choice so I am super excited about it. I really have no idea if I'll get any money, but I am hoping for at least a little bit. As a side note, I wrote an interesting LOCI that I think pushed me over the edge. After they received it, my decision was mailed a week later!

3/19 - Waitlisted at Loyola. Not sure how I feel about this. I thought I might have been able to squeak in, but I think my below average LORs might have hurt me. I never really planned on attending Loyola so I guess I shouldn't be mad. Goodluck to everyone else!

3/29 - Finally heard back from Santa Clara. $8,500 a year... Not great. I will probably try and get some money from USD and put down a seat deposit!

4/11 - Dinged at Davis. Guess the extra work didn't pay off. Mostly expected because I was so below their medians. USD it is!

4/24 - In at Pepperdine... wasn't expecting this! This gives me a little to think about. Pepperdine at sticker vs. USD at sticker. Pepperdine is ranked higher but have nearly the same employment stats... HRMMMM

Law School Dean visit
Tuesday, January 03 2012 at 07:00 PM

Honestly, I don't think it's a good idea to really "make a case" on why you should be admitted. When I met the dean it wasn't in a formal interview type setting, so it may be different if you are invited to a admittance interview. However, from what I've read it's more about portraying yourself as an interesting person. Not going in as: "this is why I'd be such a good fit, etc etc". It's more about showing you're interested in the school, the programs, and have a passion for something. Just my two cents...
