Extra Curricular Information

Some environmental and habitat for humanity projects. Nothing astounding. Worked 6 out of 8 semesters in college, including summers. One pretty bad year dragged down my gpa...worked too much. Oops.

Graduated UG 3 years ago, been working as a licensed vet tech in emergency medicine since. Love it, but time for a change.

Additional info & updates

*All scholarship listings are per year*

10-08-07 --As of today all my applications are complete!

11-04-07--Got an envelope from Brooklyn today. They are missing my Dean's Certification. I sent that form in to my UG weeks and weeks ago. Called up the school and they say it should go out next week. Here's hoping!

11-13-07--So far complete at Georgetown (an impossible reach, I know), Pace, Rutgers, St. John's, Lewis and Clark, Boston College, GWU, Cardozo, and American.

11-16-07--applied to Tulane and Pitt today, cause I can't leave well enough alone.

11-25-07--accepted to st. john's with a full tuition scholarship. my first law school acceptance :o) so psyched!

11-26-07--complete at seton hall

11-29-07--in at rutgers-newark via e-mail. Acceptance letter should be mailed out tomorrow.

12-3-07 complete via status check at fordham

12-4-07--acceptance package from rutgers came. it included a letter awarding a 15,000/year scholarship provided I maintain a 3.0. Also, I'm a NJ resident, so that's almost a full ride.

12-5-07--complete at tulane.

12-6-07--online status checker said Brooklyn received my dean's certification on 12-3-07. Finally! Also went to decision at Georgetown according to their status check.

12-10-07--rejected at georgetown! I'm a little bummed...I was hoping to be the first rejection this cycle ;o)

12-12-07--accepted to pace via regular mail. $25K/year scholarship provided I maintain a 3.0.

12-13-07--fordham status checker says "Decision: 2nd Review" not quite sure what it means! Maybe a deferral. I think I will wait to see if I hear anything by Saturday. Since I applied EA, I should have a decision by then, and if nothing changes I'll assume that decision is "deferred".

12-17-07--rejected at BC. meh.

12-19-07--got a letter from Fordham. My heart nearly stopped when I saw it was a small envelope, but it was just confirming that my application is behing held for further review.

12-26-07--accepted to L + C with 14K a year. Nice Christmas present!

01-09-08--waitlisted at u maryland.

01-10-08--so I get off work today and find a missed call on my cell. It's a 212 number so right away I'm thinking "oh, it might be Cardozo!" But there was no voicemail. I called the number back and got Cardozo's answering service. So it was Cardozo but they didn't leave a message! I'm dying to know if I got in or if they just had a question about part of my application or something. Yikes!

01-12-08--So when Cardozo didn't call back yesterday I got all nervous and was kicking myself for not calling them back before the weekend. But today I got an acceptance letter from them awarding $23K/year! It came in a clear large envelope. I also got a thick letter from Seton Hall awarding $30K/year!

01-16-08--Called BU to make sure my application is complete. It is.

01-17-08--Large envelope from Lewis and Clark offering some info about Portland and a travel reimbursment for their Admited Student Day. Not sure if I can go 'cause of work :oP
--Also got an e-mail from Tulane. My application is under review!

01-19-08--Small envelope from Pitt with acceptance letter. Scholarship info should be mailed in about 3 weeks.

01-23-08--In at Tulane via email!

01-28-08--Nice tote from Tulane came via mail. $20K/year scholorship if I maintain a 3.0

01-30-08--letter in the mail from Pitt giving me scholarship info. $12K/year.

02-04-08--rejected via regular mail from GWU. Suprise!

02-06-07--in at Brooklyn!

02-29-08--waitlisted at Fordham :oP

03-03-08--wailisted at BU. better than I expected!

03-08-08--26,900K at Brooklyn Law School.

03-09-08--waitlisted at American. wtf?

04-01-08--St. John's it is!

05-05-08--And BLS with a curveball! They bumped my scholarship to 41K per year plus guaranteed housing all three years. I think I have to take it.

Nice job with St. John's... I'm hoping they let me in and offer me a briefcase full of money, too :) Do you know how that will factor into your decision?

Thanks!!

You have a tough choice ahead. I really envy your Brooklyn and Cardozo scholarships. Good job! As for Rutgers, I recommend it. If you haven't visited, do so. Their NYC respect level is still higher than Seton Hall, I think. In case you didn't know, they offer in-state tuition as soon as you have a 12-mo lease in NJ, so you can have instate rates as a 1L. That makes your costs really low. One option is a new dorm for law students that offers a 12mo lease. Talk to Anita Walton in admissions if you want to know more about that.

thanks
