Additional info & updates

03/14/05 I am very happy with both the UofArizona and UofOregon acceptances. Quality of life, low tuition, and a Tier 1/Tier 2 education. Wait and see how it goes from here...

03/29/05 Things are finally starting to shake out, and I am getting a feel for my acceptance "boundaries". The real mystery right now is Hastings and Davis. Even though I got Waitlisted at UWashington, I interpret that as a good sign for the UC schools. Always be positive!!!

04/01/05 Still waiting.....

04/02/05 Awesome!! A second Arizona alternative (ASU)...AZ is showing me the love

04/04/05 CA Ouch!! Starting to look for those OR and AZ maps....

04/16/05 WOW!! Columbia Reserve. An honor and a second chance to a Top 5 education.

04/18/05 Admitted to Santa Clara, thank you.

04/22/05 Still alive for a UC education (UC Davis Waitlist!!). I guess I will have to sweat this one out....

05/25/05 The admit process is DONE, my last school has responded. A Waitist at USD and acceptance at USF.

06/20/05 The final waitlist variables are settled. I am going to University of Arizona, land of sun, cactus and the 2,400 sq. ft $250 K house....see ya there...

Congrats on your acceptances to UO and UoP! I'm deciding between these two also. Have you been able to visit the campuses? I've been to both, and they each have their benefits. :)

UPacific vs. UOregon
Friday, September 09 2005 at 08:00 PM

I am a little older (36) so I have a different decision perspective. 1. I want to stay in the geographical area after graduation so cost of living & house costs are relevant 2. Oregon has a top environmental program 3. Tuition is way cheaper in Oregon 4. Regionally (Northwest) Oregon is at a higher pecking order than UPacific in California 5. Oregon is higher in these "rankings" although UPacific just got to Tier 2 in the latest US News and World Report That being said, I am still up in the air on the decision as I am waiting for the rest of the UC to come in and UArizona is making things interesting for me... Good luck with "The Choice"...

Sd vs. UP vs. U of Oregon

Thanks for the comments. I did go to Stanford undergrad. I am still waiting to hear from U of P but I have basically made my choice on U of Oregon. There are many more pros in my opinion: (1) tuition: about 27K (between U of P and U of O) and 39K (between USD and U of O) cheaper at U of O (2) cost of living: much cheaper at U of O (3) facilities: new building at U of O (~'99 built), havens't seen USD but U of P didn't impress me--old libary, classsrooms (4) job prospects--has a good reputation from Wa, Or, and Nor CA; USD pretty much only in SD, and U of P competes with USF, Santa Clara, Stanford, UC Berkeley (5) rankings: the important rankings are the peer assessment and the lawyer judge assessment (of the US News)--both high at U of O (6) Programs: I am interested in environmental law (#7) and also alternative dispute resolution(#13)--both programs ranked in top-15 in nation I will probably come back to the Bay Area after graduation, so I think that I might have the best chance at U of O even with U of P and USD being in CA. Anyhow, good luck with you choices!
