Additional info & updates

11/3 - 7 Apps in, let the games begin. Phoenix sent me an email asking me to apply. Website indicated no app fee - no problem! BTW I read that TX Wesleyan will waive the app fee if you submit electronically and it's TRUE! GL.

11/12 - Complete at Akron, via email.

11/14&15 - Rec'd email from Florida Coastal which said something about 10-12k scholarship... wrote back asking for fee waiver, and they said OK. So I applied.

11/21 - Sent an update on my Character & Fitness to all schools - this may delay a decision, but I figured I'd put this in here in case anyone (i.e. me) was wondering why I'm not seeing results from ANYONE yet.

11/30 - FCSL sent a duplicate email - same as before? I emailed back to verify my file. I applied 11/15, LSDAS report ordered 11/16. ??? Cleveland-State complete via email.

12/1 - Acceptance from FCSL w/ 12k scholarship; $$ requires 3.0 gpa and full-time status. Big envelope.

12/4 - STCL finally ordered my LSDAS report.

12/13 - email from TX Wes said my app was complete, decision 4-6 weeks.

12/26 - large envelopes from Cooley and Cleveland State. Cooley: 50% tuition scholarship.

1/7 - Email from UAkron, deferred. Not one of my main choices, but I prefer acceptance packets. HA!

1/14 - STCL email indicating completed status (? wow... two and a half months to complete?) and that decisions would be mailed between mid-February and April. Neat.

1/16 - OK... I got a small, thin envelope from St. Mary's that made me shit my pants. Acceptance letters should NOT come in small, thin envelopes. Accepted, nonetheless. If I get a scholarship to St. Mary's I'll stay in San Antonio, for sheezy.

1/18 - Rec'd scholarship from St. Mary's. $20k for 4 years (part time). That'll pretty much sow things up barring a miracle from Houston or Dallas (i.e. it's going to take a sweet deal from U of H [which I doubt I'll even get in] or amazing scholarships from TXWes or STCL to make me move). Let's see what happens.

1/28 - U of H status changed to 'File in Review.' Ack! Don't look too hard, Cougars.

2/1 - TXWes sent me an email informing me they have a new app status checker on their homepage (www.law.txwes.edu). You have to have a username and password, though... those were included in the email today.

2/13 - My first rejection letter. From... Phoenix??? Phoenix, we have a problem. Your sister school in Florida (you know, the fully accredited one which accepts Federal Aid programs) not only accepted me, but offered me a $36,000 scholarship. I wasn't holding out for PhoenixLaw, but it's a bit of a shock to get rejected from such a sketchy school. One finger up to you, Phoenix.

2/27 - TXWes status changed to decision rendered/decision mailed via online status checker.

2/29 - TXWes acceptance with $8000 total scholarship, $4k for the first year, renewable with a 3.0 gpa. Probably not going to take this deal.

3/1 - Rec'd letter from Cleveland-State, just a congratulations.

3/2 - Rec'd phonecall from Cleveland-State asking if I had any questions. Shrug.

3/4 - Rec'd email from STCL regarding their online status checker. http://happy.stcl.edu/YourStatus/membership/logon.aspx
Shows my application complete as of 12/31/07. No change in 64 days?

3/8 - After much strife, the University of Houston Law Center has denied my request for admission. No surprise here. Still, disappointment.

3/15 - I honestly believe that STCL has forgotten about me.

3/28 - Sent deposit to St. Mary's (due 4/1). Withdrawing at TXWes, Cooley, FCSL, Akron, and Cleveland State. Still no word from South Texas College of Law.

4/3 - STCL online status changed to 'Decision Mailed'

4/7 - STCL acceptance letter. No mention of scholarship, so this one goes in the can.

Hello, St. Mary's Law. I'm happy with the cycle; 6-2-1 ain't bad for a GPA like mine, and thank God for the StMU scholarship. See y'all at St. Mary's.

Have you heard anything from them, like even a receipt of application?

South Texas and Wes.

Spoke with admissions and they said they will not request reports from LSDAS until December 1. Also, I called Wesleyan and they said they just received about 200 apps from LSAC on Tuesday and they are trying to sort it out. Could be worse for you...one of my schools said they have no record I applied, even though they requested my report. Also, dude, are you sure about Wyoming? If you want, I gave you my email and I can tell you about the place. You should check out Washburn too.

Hey there, just wondering if you've gone to decision at UH...? We applied at about the same time. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. Lol, I'm totally with you UH's EA designation. It's the middle of February! I have no idea how I managed Tulane/Baylor $. The law school admissions gods must really like me or something. The thing is, I'm a native Houstonian, and I'd like to practice in Houston down the line. From everything I've read, Houston places better in the city than the other two schools. And when you factor in cost of attendance, Houston wins in a landslide. Ugh, law school decisions aren't fun. Looks like STCL/UH are up there for you. Do you want to practice in Houston too?

I wouldn't be surprised, either, admissions officer... Given the success of InfiLaw Corporation in setting up good law schools (i.e. FCSL has the 3rd highest bar passage rate in Florida). I still don't really understand the rejection at this point. You know, right NOW -- when Phoenix ISN'T anywhere near the top 100.

Did your Tx Wes acceptance packet list the scholarship award? I was accepted and received a packet, but there was no mention of a scholarship. Thanks, congrats, and good luck!
