Thanks for the welcome, dani. I read your posts often while writing my PS. I think it's criminal that you were waitlisted at Seattle. Maybe I'll see you there next year, and you can be in a Seattle performance of my ski opera. -ed

Your assessment almost exactly matches mine. I know there are some super longshots, but what the hey. I certainly felt no surprise or disappointment when I got my rejections from UC Hastings and UW. Was kind of bummed about deferred at L&C. Georgetown has a Gilbert and Sullivan light opera club, so maybe they'll dig my ski opera...

Cycle went more or less as expected, with a couple of exceptions: Like predictions2, I was very surprised at a U Conn acceptence and a Seattle waitlist (I expected an acceptence). I was also happily surprised by American's waitlist and unhappily surprised by Lewis and Clark's rejection. As of May 10, I'm deciding between U Conn and Oregon. Still haven't withdrawn from Franklin Pierce, but I suppose I will. I just think they're a good, horribly underrated school. I also think Drexel is going to be successful; I just couldn't hack Philly after 14 years in a rural area.

LSAT!!

Congrats on your acceptances. May I ask, what tools did you use to prepare for the LSAT?

I didn't know much about the lsat, and bought the Princeton Review book and studied a little; took three practice tests, then took the lsat. I felt horrible in the test and almost cancelled. I got a 158, and immediately signed up to retake. I bought about six books, the most useful being Kaplan's guide and a couple "Actual official LSAT" books. For two months I took about two practice tests a week, then retook in December, 2005. i was disappointed with my second score (161), but it was good enough to get me into some good schools. Hope that helps. -Ed

Oh, and I also...

...Studied games a lot, as I felt they were what I could most improve upon. Ironically, the section I aced in all the practice tests - reading comprehension - was the section I flailed on in the actual test. In December's test, I got a total of 21 questions wrong - 11 were on reading comp!
