Wash U v. Minnesota . . .
Sunday, January 21 2007 at 07:00 PM

Congrats on your many acceptances! I was thoroughly impressed by both schools when I visited. My undergrad degree is in labor relations, so I have a keen interest in labor and employment law. Minnesota has a concentration in that field, and I could complete a masters in HR/IR in one additional year. WashU offers neither of these options. WashU does, however, offer self-scheduled exams for 2 & 3Ls, and beautiful facilites. And you only take 3 substantive courses per semester, plus legal writing, as a 1L. (All of these perks were tough to turn down.) Academic considerations aside, I just felt *at home* during my visit to Minnesota. They took me out to lunch with another prospective student, and I had a delightful (and lengthy) chat with the associate director of admissions. Also, I think Minneapolis is more culturally liberal than St. Louis, and that's important to me. I could say a lot more about both schools, but I don't want to write a treatise on your wall. Please e-mail me if you have additional questions. I'm happy to share whatever info I have. Good luck with your decision. You have some terrific options.
