Additional info & updates

***Scholarship amounts are for the duration of school (3/4 years)

Plan on retaking my LSAT, had crummy 2 weeks leading up to the last time, and it killed my score by about 5 points off from all my practices. Interested in hearing anyone's experiences with how schools respond to multiple scores and/or part time enrollment.

**Update 10-25-2008**
Got my score where I wanted it. A little would've been great, but this gets me somewhere outside of Florida which would be great.

**Update 11-15-2008**
Decided to go ahead and send in my application to Stetson. I got in there last cycle, and while I'm hoping to get out of Florida, I deffinitely want to go to law school this cycle, and maybe I can get some money....

**Update 11-26-2008**
Woo hoo! I was hoping to find out from at least one school before Thanksgiving. I'm in at Penn State! Got an email of acceptance, packet to follow in the mail!

**Update 12-1-2008**
Saw that someone else had seen an update on Fordham's status checker today, and checked mine. It says "You have not been admitted to Fordham", and that my deny letter was mailed last week. Oh well, figured it was kind of a reach, but i've seen lower GPAs with similar LSATs get in PT. Oh well.

** Update 12-3-2008**
According to UF's web site a decision letter is in the mail.
Accepted at Rutgers though, found out via email, more info to follow in the mail!

** Update 12-5-2008 **
Big envelope from UF! Just basic admissions info.

** Update 12-7-2008**
Big envelope from Rutgers! Basic admissions info.

** Update 12-22-2008 **
In at Stetson, big envelope in the mail. A little disappointed there's no scholarship money, but maybe nobody's offering that to part-timers this year...

** Update 12-24-2008 **
Rejection letter from George Mason, small envelope. No problem though, figured out this week that I can qualify for in-state tuition at Rutgers, so I think I'm pretty much set on going there at this point.

** Update 1-28-2009 **
Received two scholarship offers, one from penn state and one from stetson today. This deffinitely throws a wrinkle (a good wrinkle) into some of my plans. Also got my acceptance from UCONN. Small white envelope. Now I've got some serious decisions to make.

**Update 2-18-2009**
Negotiated with Rutgers to get a little bit of a scholarship offer from them. Received a small white envelope in the mail from UConn with an offer to bring tution down to in-state if I convert to full-time (approx $20K per year). Visiting UF and Stetson later this month, so hope to be able to make a decision by mid-march.

** Update 3-3-2009 **
A Note for anyone applying to Fordham. Back in December, I applied part-time, and the online status check said "deny letter sent". No biggie, I felt they were a reach for me anyway. A week ago, I got an acceptance packet in the mail. Really bizarre. Apparently they were just kidding. :)

** Update 3-13-2009 **
I emailed Stetson today and informed them of my decision to attend there. It feels like a huge weight off my shoulders, and I'm happy I can start planning for being in law school instead of just figuring out where to go.

Good school choices. Are you working FT in Jersey too?

Congratulations on the jump in LSAT score! That should make you a lock at Rutgers.

Congratulations on Rutgers! That's awesome.

Scholarship?

Just got the official offer in the mail. It didn't have any info about $$$. Did yours offer a sholarship?

Last year a couple PTs got offers w/ money, but they may be more strapped this year. Oh well, just happy to be in to my #1.

Congratulations on a successful cycle! I've followed your profile since we have similar numbers. I read your posts in humphrey's profile and you said that you live near Stetson. Would you be willing to answer some questions about Stetson and the Tampa area? Will you be attending the Stetson Scholars retreat? Are you on TLS.com?

LOL Thanks for keeping such a descriptive blog of your journey into law school! Congrats on your acceptances. What school will you be attending?

Yea UF and Stetson are both wonderful schools! Did you only apply for the part time program at Stetson? I wanted to attend Howard, but Ive been hearing horror stories of HBCUs in general not disbursing Financial Aid in a timely manner, losing paper work, and pretty much not looking out for their students. I really like UMs campus partially because I want to practice law in the area, but Im waiting to receive scholarship information. I also have a letter in transit from UF, which may help to change things.

Hey! I'm also in at Rutgers and was just thinking that if they would throw a little money at me, my choice would be made for me. Do you mind if I ask how you negotiated with them for $$? Thanks!
