I fail at standardized tests. My SAT/ACT scores back that claim up. I did all the right things: Took the classes, ate the foods, etc. My abysmally average score was my effort's meager compensation.

I'm half Native/half European and tailored my application around that. I did not submit an addendum excusing my LSAT performance (see below).

I applied to several schools in my home state and then followed the fee waiver trail.

Cornell said yes, UMN came through big time and Iowa gave me its full ride.

I withdrew from Davis, Hastings, Baylor and Arizona.

The Stanford ding came on a poorly folded sheet of cheap recycled paper. USC and UCLA had classier "rejected" text. C'mon Cardinal, you can do better!

Waitlisted at UIUC and BU and promptly withdrew.

Faculty Review at Berkeley.

Sent in scholarship application to Cornell.

Dean Tom at Berkeley emailed to ask for an addendum re: standardized testing.

Bumped into a second round of FR at Berkeley.

Waitlisted at Berkeley.

Barring some kind of miracle on the wait list, I will be matriculating at Cornell.

good luck! Monday, January 25th, 2010 at 3:04 pm
Hi,

I noticed we have very similar stats-- I am also PBK and wrote for my student paper. I only took one foreign language, but I did do a term abroad.

You've given me some hope-- I also applied to UC Davis, and I noticed that you've been accepted. I just wanted to send a note wishing you well. I hope you get into your first choice (and with lots of funding)!

Best Wishes,
Rachael TreeLover

Hey I will be at ASW for sure! Right now I am really torn, but I'm looking forward to visiting both to see what vibe I get. Are you leaning towards Cornell? GhostWriter
