Additional info & updates

12-04-06: Received acceptance letter from University of Houston. I probably won't end up there, but it is very encouraging to get accepted only 10 days after going complete. Hopefully a sign of good things to come.

EDIT: Fall grades caused GPA to drop to 3.96; I doubt this will effect any of my applications, but I will send the updated transcript to all schools anyway.

12-20-06: In at SMU via phone call.

12-23-06: Received acceptance letter from Santa Clara University. Also awarded a scholarship in the amount of $10,000 (must remain in top 1/4 of class to retain the scholarship for 2nd and 3rd years).

01-29-07: Rejected from Boalt via a small, thin envelope. Is this the part where I curse the LSAT for underestimating my academic potential?

02-15-07: Withdrew from Santa Clara University.

04-05-07: Over 5 months since applying, over 2 months since my last decision, and still no decision from HALF my schools. It's really starting to wear me down.

04-16-07: As expected, waitlisted at USD. I'll probably stay on the waitlist for about a month, but I'm not sure I'd go there over SMU anyway. This does prove one thing though - USD is obsessed with the LSAT more than any other school in the country.

04-18-07: Withdrew from University of Houston.

04-24-07: Waitlisted via status checker at UC Davis. I'd easily go to Davis over SMU, so looks like I'll be staying on the waitlist until they officially reject me.

05-07-07: Waitlisted @ UNC...I will stay on this waitlist for a while as well.

05-08-07 @ 3:30pm: Rejected at UCLA via thin envelope. I guess that last minute letter of recommendation had no impact. I hate life, I am very unhappy, and will probably take the LSAT in September and re-apply in the fall.

05-08-07 @ 3:35pm: In off the waitlist at UC Davis!!! All is well, I love life, and will MOST likely be going to UC Davis in the fall.

05-09-07: Withdrew from everywhere except UC Davis and UNC. If I get in to UNC within the next month, it will be a tough call between UC Davis and UNC.

Stay in Texas--go to SMU. I hear Berkeley doesn't even have any golf courses.

SMU?

Congrats on SMU. I was surprised when I read that you said you received a phone call, because they said that they do not release admissions info over the phone. So I guess I am asking how was the phone call?

I applied to Davis back in October. I received a decision on 2/5.

Yep. I'm a resident of NC.

similar numbers
Wednesday, October 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

hey, we have very similar numbers, and I, too, am stuck waiting for schools even though my apps have been done since early December. Do you think your LSAT score has anything to do with the wait (I ask because mine is only a 161 which doesn't quite "match" a 4.0) Did you write an addendum explaining the LSAT score or have any schools said anything about it? I took the test twice and could not get over a 161. Thanks and hang in there!

Thanks

Thanks for the congrats. I am actually aware of the Critical Race Studies program at UCLA. My electives will most likely center on classes from that area as well as classes from sports and entertainment law.

UC Davis?
Tuesday, May 09 2006 at 08:00 PM

Still no word from UC Davis? I would say good luck, but, well, you know.... I'm hoping you get stuck at SMU!

UNC
Wednesday, October 11 2006 at 08:00 PM

hey, have you heard anything from UNC? The decision was "supposed" to be made by May 1st, and I've got nothing. :) Also, I live in NC, but, by their standards I am not a resident (even though all my stuff is here as well as my bank account, license, tax paying, etc.)

UNC

I got the letter in the mail today...it was good it was an acceptance because my b-day is today, so it was a great gift. I never got an e-mail. Thank you and good luck!

How did you hear from Davis? And when were you waitlisted? Sorry about doing this twice.
