ADDITIONAL INFO & UPDATES

All scholarships are three year total.

Trans. from 2 yr. college. Married w/2 kids. High school drop out, obtained GED. Attended Florida Coastal last minute in '08 for 2 mos. before leaving due to financial situation. Horrible, horrible mistake and now have no idea how it may affect me this cycle. We'll see as the decisions start coming in. Worked full time through school. I would love to hear from anyone with advice/suggestions/comments. Really hoping for UF to take a former gator.

Update: Retook LSAT Oct-10. waiting for score.

Oct-29: Just received my retake LSAT score... 161. Up one point from my last test.... well that was definitely worth the studying, money, and stress. Ugh

11/20-something: Decided to post law school predictor numbers - HourUMD... quick reference for me and others with similar stats:
(In order of 2011 USWNR rank)
(LSP - Hourumd)
North Carolina - 57% - 21.62%
Alabama- 47% - 33.33%
Arizona State- 57% - 100%
Arizona- 58% - 53.85%
Florida- 63% - 74.19%
Georgia State- 61% - 100%
Miami- 86% - 100%
Tennessee- 67% - 100%
Hawaii- 88% - 80%

1/26/11 - Accepted at ASU! Stoked!

1/27/11 - Depressing email from UF. What kinda school sends a "Prospective Student Newsletter" detailing the importance of applying to numerous schools? Like I said, depressing. At least email me with a waitlisted status or something.... sheeze

2/11/11- It's official. I have absolutely no self-control over checking my status checkers! Every minute that passes by is another minute in which one of my application status may have changed - however remote that possibility.
Lloyd: "What are my chances? 1 in 10? 1 in 100?"
Mary: "More like 1 in 1,000,000."
Lloyd: "So you're telling me there IS a chance! I read ya!"
-Dumb & Dumber

2/14/11- U of Arizona status checker updated to "Decision Issued"... tried using my email to logon to "New Admits" area on webpage... no dice. Guess that means no love from Tuscon. UA doesn't want to be my Valentine :(

2/15/11- Phone call from Tennessee today... said scholly info is on its way. Kinda sucks that I got the phone call one day after I WITHDREW :(
----update----- email asking if -given the new information- would I still like to withdraw? I answered "no". lol. Oops. Application anxiety has left me completely indecisive.

3/3/11 - "Knock, Knock."
"Who's there?"
"U"
"U who?"
"Yoohoo. Quit counting on UF to get back in a timely fashion!"

ugh

3/10/11- First rejection came from my home state of Hawai`i in the form of a rote email! Super strong ties to Hawai`i (Maui especially). Oh well. I believe that God has a plan that is greater than mine.

4/22/11- My last post:
The cycle has ended. I will be attending UF Law and couldn't be happier. It is OVER and I am THRILLED :-D

Thanks! I figured people would either a) not know what it is, or b) recognize it and maybe get a kick out of it! Good luck with all your applications!

hahahaha I love it! Have you seen the new clip where they pick the new stig? I saw it on autoblog a couple days ago, and they have a whole stig "farm" !

I love how many profiles I see on here where the majority of the schools are in a certain area, then out of nowhere, Hawaii. Of course then you check their information, and all the profiles say 'married.' When my wife and I were discussing law schools, she wanted to stay in the southeast, but then, after a little consideration, she said, "Well, I guess Hawaii wouldn't be bad..." Good luck with your cycle, and hope you make it to the beach!

My status was "review complete: decision pending" for a couple weeks and then on the 11/23 it changed to "decision letter mailed." hope that helps

  • Tuesday, February 08 2011 at 08:16 PM

Do you know if ASU participates in status checker? That is the only school I haven't received information from, with regards to my login and password. Anthing you could do to let me know would be great! Thank you.

Thanks a lot. I m really not sure which school is my first pick. I like American, kent, and Denver. UK would be great but they haven't offered me a scholarship yet. But, it all will come down to UF. Congrats on your cycle. Its going great

Don't I know it. I dread the daily check: UF, UA, FSU...nothing. Everyday I'm like, "please change, please change...nothing? okay. tomorrow." hahaha. Hopefully we will both here soon and the news will be great. :D

So, did you get a rejection letter in the mail from AZ? I got a Decision Rendered, I'm sure I'm in same boat.

Don't you hate waiting for UF? The sad part is, FSU is worse. At least UF told me that I would know by April 1st, FSU said by May. So which school is your number 1 choice so far? Im leaning towards UK since they gave me 12k a year

Well UK is highly ranked, they gave me a decent scholly, cost of living is cheap and if for some reason I choose not to go into IP law I can still practice other forms in Kentucky. There really isn't a lot of competition. Honestly though, I want to go to Chicago Kent and live up there. Its all gonna come down to UF

Well good luck with the rest of your cycle. I am from AZ and most likely looking to go to ASU, so if you have any questions about the state of Arizona feel free to ask.

  • Congrats to you, too

Thanks for the congrats. I love your story. I get the sense that law school needs more people like you. If you find yourself at UNC in the fall, let me buy you a beer.

Were you able to make it to any of the events this past week?

I agree with what everyone else has been saying. The faculty was fabulous, especially Dean Soto. She has been a great help with my financial aid issues. Everyone was pretty tired by the end of the day, but for the most part the presentations and mock class were very good. I also was extremely impressed with how friendly the current students were. They were there to offer answers to any questions, and extremely outgoing to us. It was a great experience and truly sealed the deal in my decision.
