Additional info & updates

I wish I'd known about this site sooner. Oh well, I'm here now! Sent in most apps mid-to-late January (pretty late in the game). Then for some reason I semi-freaked out last weekend and sent off some more safety apps...in case I didn't have enough already. :-)

I have completion notices from every school in my first wave of apps except Michigan, which is a stretch with my numbers anyway. Hasn't been TOO long but hopefully I hear from them soon!

2/13/08 - Just got my status checker/completion notice from Michigan. I can stop being paranoid now

2/21/08 - Voicemail from Akron telling me I'm admitted, admission packet to come. Wasn't expecting a decision from them so soon...it only took them 3 days. Let's keep this pattern going!

2/23/08 - IN at William and Mary with 6k/yr!!!! I'm SO excited, they were one of my reaches! Hopefully this is a good indicator of things to come!

2/28/08 - IN at Lewis & Clark with 17k/year! I've wanted to go to L&C since starting the law school search and they are one of my top choices..the scholy is definitely making me lean that way.

2/29/08 - Notification of full tuition at Akron + stipend...hmm

3/4/08 - I thought I was complete at IU-B a month ago but apparently I just went complete. Guess I'll be waiting a little longer than I'd thought..

3/10/08 - Returned from vacation to find acceptance at UO, plus 4k/yr.

3/11/08 - Withdrew from UO. Not a bad offer, but with L&C's scholy (and W&M) it wouldn't be realistic to go to UO. Someone else can have the seat and $.

3/14/08 - In at New England via snail mail. No mention of scholarship so I'm definitely withdrawing.

3/23/08 - Michigan status checker moved to "decision" only a few days after receiving my residency verification. This can't be good...

3/24/08 - First rejection...dinged at Michigan. Of course I knew it was coming, but it was worth taking the chance.

Also got a letter from NE with full tuition scholarship, just a little too late.

3/26/08 - Withdrew from schools I knew I wouldn't attend. Hopefully that helps someone else get in!

I just got an email response from Santa Clara telling me that my application withdrawal would "suffice for my offer of admission decline"... so apparently I got in at some point? lol

4/4/08 - Waitlisted via snail mail at WUSTL...not sure if I want to stay on or not.

4/10/08 - Admitted to IU-B, which I was not expecting given how long it took to get a decision. Nice scholy, but tuition is expensive! Plus a 3.2 GPA requirement is pretty stiff... Can't deny that it's a nice offer, though.

Now I can breathe a sigh of relief...nice to have the cycle finally completed!

4/28/08 - A whole 2 days before my decision is due, I've decided to attend IU-B. Withdrew from WashU's waitlist and from Lewis & Clark. Good luck to everyone else!

Hi! Good luck on your cycle. I submitted most of my apps in mid January, with the Oregon schools just this week (after it became clear that Colorado was probably not going to work out). Mid Jan, I don't think, is that late in the game. I mean...it's not early, but you have to consider that most people send in their stuff at the last minute: they just aren't the people that care enough to frequent this board.

top choices

My top choices? I honestly don't know. My big hang-up right now is if I want to move away from the Northeast or not. On one hand, I would love to live and raise a family somewhere beautiful (oh, I'm engaged and will be 29 in about a month, so the whole kids thing is a major sticking point), but on the other hand, my brother and my parents live in NYC and Boston, and my fiancee has family here... It's tough, because I'm sick of NYC, so I probably won't go to any of those schools unless they offer me a ludicrous amount of money, which they won't. So...I'd love to go to Temple, but I won't be in-state eligible. That's a problem when Rutgers has offered me a chance to graduate with minimal debt ($12K/yr + in-state for 2 years). I really don't know. Fortunately, my fiancee is a teacher who is willing to move anywhere on my list. How about you?

congrats

Congrats on W+M! Great school, beautiful area. I was going to apply there but my fiancee vetoed it (lack of jobs for a teacher). If you go, have fun at Busch Gardens!

on W&M. I went to undergrad there. I've very similiar numbers to you and applied late as well (first week in Feb). Glad to see someone with comparable numbers doing well though!

I'm sure you'll be fine. Their decision to waitlist me looks like an anomaly.

Looking at just where I Want to go, Michigian, UVA, Northerwestern and Columbia. For realistic reaches, GW, Fordham, USC or WM. If you end up in Williamsburg and want any tips on decent places for housing let me know.
