Additional info & updates

1/08/11- Applying to schools with top environmental law programs.

Also, running late because of December LSAT! Should've applied before taking the test, but wanted to see the score before paying for some of these applications. Since I'm right on the line with my score, I figured what the hell. This is the only time in my life I'll be applying to law school, so might as well take a chance with what I've got.

1/13/11- Applications to top four choices are in today...VERY LATE in the cycle, a bit stressed about it, but fingers crossed...

1/15/11- feeling anxious about the lateness of my applications. I've got a pretty lofty list here, though am also applying to a couple safe schools that I haven't posted yet. Will do once I'm done applying to them.
This whole waiting thing isn't as easy as I thought it would be! For most of these places I've got a 50/50 chance. I'm flipping coins and placing my bets.

1/25/10 Under review at Berkeley. Definitely one of my top choices, with its great environmental law program!

PS-Just a thought: This website has big time advantages in perspective. However, its one big disadvantage is the uncanny ability it has to make me feel like a solid two numbers rather than a unique individual. On the upside of this disadvantage, LSN begins to make the personal statement feel MUCH more important when an applicant (like me) has on-the-line scores, which is probably how the PS should feel from the first. I hope mine helps me make the cut! And I hope it has the same effect on all the other promising future attorneys here.

1/27 file under review at Stanford.
2/07 file under review at Duke.
2/09 file under review at NYU.
2/10 file under review at UPenn.

2/25 waitlisted at UPenn.
2/28 waitlisted at Georgetown. Definitely going to apply to George Washington before their deadline has passed.
3/01 ding from Berkeley. Who needs em!
3/01 acceptance from UCLA and call from the Dean, right on the heels of the rejected from Berkeley. When the Dean told me he went to school in VT also, I called him a hippie and asked if he wore patchouli. He said he didn't, and I told him I didn't either. It was a good moment for us. Great start.
3/22 accepted to Colorado Law! Great environmental program, but less money than I was hoping for.
4/26 admitted to GWU and sent award letter in the mail. Couldn't be happier or more relieved! My decision is made--no more waiting.
9/20 Just wanted to wrap this saga up-- After getting the scholarship from GW, I decided that I'd much rather have 100k less debt than go to a school a few positions higher in the rankings, so I withdrew from the t14 schools I was waitlisted at. And what a great decision! I love GW and I love Washington DC.

In the long run, I know I will be happier and prouder going to a t20 school with a great scholarship than going to a T14. the difference, once out of the application frenzy, is minute and negligible.
