**********************************************

March 7, 2006 --> Withdrew from Ohio State, Penn State, Baylor, Nebraska, Florida State, Ole Miss, LSU, and Pittsburgh this morning. Only 7 schools remain...

***********************************************

01/17/06 - Accepted to Texas Tech. Found out by phone when I called to check on my application.

01/19/06 - Accepted to LSU via snail mail. Suspiciously small envelope but alas with good news. No mention of $.

01/20/06 - In at Oklahoma. Again, called to ask something, was told I had been accepted and that "the committee was very impressed with your application." Wonder if they say that to everyone? Scholarship info will come later.

01/27/06 - In at Florida State. Got a call from Sharon Booker, the Admissions Director. Scholarship info will come in a few weeks.

01/30/06 - In at Tennessee. Called to get information about obtaining residency and she told me that I had been "offered admission."

02/01/06 - In at Penn State (Carlisle campus) via large white envelope in snail mail. Scholarship info should come some time later.

02/01/06 - In at Nebraska via large yellow envelope in snail mail. Letter also says that I am receiving 15K/year in money. Yea...

02/10/06 - In at Baylor in sort of a weird way. Got an e-mail saying that I could not be in the Fall 2006 class but that I could start Spring 2007. Now if they would just give me a full scholarship.

2/11/06 - On hold at Illinois. I have to think this isn't a bad thing with my numbers. I expected a rejection. The letter says that they want to "take a second look" at my application before making a decision.

02/15/06 - Got an e-mail from UH today telling me that I had been accepted. Also said that the actual letter is in the mail.

2/17/06 - In at Ole Miss. Kind of annoying how it all came about. They told me a month ago that my file was in review and when I finally got in touch with someone in the office today they said "Oh, you have been admitted. You should get something in the mail soon." Umm...thanks.

3/6/06 - Rejection from Notre Dame via snail mail. Actually didn't bother me as much as I thought. I'm ready to know where I'm going to go.

Scholarships:

$5k/year from Oklahoma
$15k/year from Nebraska (stay in top 1/3 of class)
$9k/year from LSU
$5k/year from Penn State. Pretty dismal when you consider how far my LSAT is above their median and their cost of education. Glad it's probably my last choice :)
$5k/first year from Florida State. Said it was need based.

Sunday, November 06 2005 at 07:00 PM

I noticed your comment about OU and cost. While OU is a bit more expensive (if you are out of state) it is much cheaper than other out of state and private schools. Good Luck!

FSU

They didn't inform me in my acceptance letter of any scholarships. But I will be declining the offer this week anyway. I see your applying there, good luck!

hey!

We are applying to alot of the same schools...good luck!

tier 3/4
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

i applied to two lower tier schools, OCU and Ave Maria. mainly for scholarship reasons. OCU is local, and i was hoping for a full ride. didn't happen. anyway, the rest of tier 1's and 2's. i tried to apply to schools all over the country. and many of my apps had the fees waived.

Nice job!
Sunday, September 04 2005 at 08:00 PM

Nice job on your retake, a 9 point increase is very impressive!

Good Luck

Thanks for the compliment

I think Michigan is currently leading, but I'd like to see about Chicago and Columbia first. What about you? You should have several great choices by the end of this process. Good luck!

Sunday, January 22 2006 at 07:00 PM

Ugh, I know! I think Nebraska likes really high GPA's (have you noticed all the admitted folks on LSN have 3.89+?) But! They admit almost half their applicants, so I am not worried yet. Good luck on your apps!

thanks man, good luck to you too. you know, youre almost at the point where they may disregard the lower lsat score since you made a pretty big jump. thats awesome that you already got a full ride offer, i am sure you will have lots more acceptances and some more money.

At least it's not a waitlist. Based on our numbers... I think we have a very good chance of admission. Make sure you are sending them shit and showing continued interest! Good luck. Let me know how it goes.

You asked how long I was in academic review at OSU. Not long at all - less than a week. But - they were really slow about sending the official acceptance letter. I got emails inviting me to chats etc for admitted students, and mail inviting me to open houses for admitted students, before the real letter came. Best of luck!

Saturday, November 12 2005 at 07:00 PM

Are you going to the Scholarship Day for Texas Tech on March 1?

dickinson
Saturday, December 10 2005 at 07:00 PM

Yeah, the scholarships we received from dickinson are pretty pathetic. I guess they are pinching pennies because of their building project. They more than likely lost me as a future student. They could have made it somewhat competitive considering I'm from PA. Oh well...Congrats on all the acceptances and good luck.

come on
Monday, November 14 2005 at 07:00 PM

you are hogging all of the acceptances! just kidding, congrats! what is your first choice? i'm going to predict good news from UNC!

hey chris
Sunday, November 13 2005 at 07:00 PM

it looks like OU, SMU, or W&L. but any school i have yet to withdraw from is still in the running, technically. they could woo me if they wanted to... lol. how about you? where are you leaning? that tech offer must be pretty tempting.
