law related internship

Should have strong LORs (profs who really know me)

12/5 toby stock phone call email!
12/6 had toby phone call (around 3 or 4pm EST)
12/13 toby called with hls acceptance!!! (around 6pm EST)

01/18 got caught up in holiday rush... can't remember what the postmark was on the NYU manila envelope so I'm guessing. Fordham date is from email notification.

01/23 I got a letter from Cornell requesting an interview with me, guilting me out because I was no longer considering Cornell. I withdrew from Cornell, Fordham, and Duke.

3/28 NYU notified me that I was a finalist for a scholarship and requested that I send in my financial aid info asap. since my parents file for an extension every year and are both completely overburdened already, and since i'm planning to withdraw from NYU i doubt i will ever find out what this scholarship was.

5/12 Can't say I'm too broken up about my cycle, HLS 09 is pretty darn sweet, especially seeing as how I'm totally in love with Harvard right now (and have the sexiest roommate evarz!)

fee waivers

Yeah I got the Columbia one through CRS without any notice, so that was definitely a nice surprise. Unfortunately no such luck with NYU. Maybe because I didn't have my class rank in CRS until last week? Or maybe just the fickle nature of fee waivers? Took the Oct LSAT, that probably didn't help.

I took the LSAT in 2004, then again in October 2005 and scored 6 points higher... will have to check on the date of the Cornell fee waiver to see if it was before or after the October LSAT, but I think it was before.

Good luck on all your apps. I'm sure you'll do really well this cycle :)

I got my fee waiver in September, before I re-took the LSAT. The geographical hypothesis is a good one, I think. Cornell isn't too enticing to most Californians I know.

Thanks for the nice words. I know I should not be worried; maybe I will meditate or something and acheive inner peace. : ) By the way, that is a quite impressive GPA! Good luck with your whole admissions proccess (although at this point, the less we think about it, probably the better) and maybe I'll see you at LS next year!

congrats !!!! is hls a top choice, or are you leaning toward a nyc school ?

Congratulations, and two quick questions
Friday, December 31 2004 at 07:00 PM

Hey, congratulations on the acceptance! I have two questions for you though. It would be awesome if you could answer them. I got a W on my transcript (non-punitive, non GPA counting,) Did you have any Ws on your transcript, or do you know anybody that has one or more and will it affect my acceptance into Harvard, Yale, etc? (Considering I get a high GPA and a high LSAT? (E-mail me or leave a message with the answer in my profile) Also, if you dont mind, could you tell me how you prepared for the LSAT?

thanks

I'm not applying to Yale because I have no real interest in going there. New Haven blows, the small class size and no grades aren't really a draw for me personally (I like having empirical data on how I'm doing and a bigger alumni network is a pretty good tradeoff for small class size - plus I'm pretty personable so I'm not worried about getting to know profs) and I've heard that it's really only fantastic for clerkships and academics, neither of which I'm totally sold on right now. Yale keeps calling me and sending me things but I'm waaay too busy to write a 250 now. Good luck to those applying tho, and of course best wishes to those who are going because Yale's their thing, it's just not really mine :)

Congrats

Thanks for the comments. Yea, I'm totally into Berkman, but the west coast isn't possible for me. The good news is that Yale has Benkler, and I am interested in his work, too. Perhaps we will be cyberlaw buddies. In any case, good luck.

So I noticed the Yale stuff after posting. I have no doubt that you'll be successful as well.
