Additional info & updates

Hello to all and good luck as the cycle plays out!

***Although I initially listed scholarship offers here, I've decided to take them down until all of my schools get back to me. Check back in a few months if you are interested in the #s.

12.2.2009 -- First response is in: good news from Depaul University! I was thrilled by the acceptance letter and went over then top when I saw the scholarship.

Still planning to wait for a few months to compair offers . . . but hoping that this first offer is a good sign. Fingers crossed that other good news is on the way . . .

12.7.2009 -- I'm in at Valpo! BUT . . . the acceance letter says nothing about money. It looks like I have to send in an acknowledgement letter first and then they provide a "statement of interest" - perhaps $$$ will be mentioned in that letter. Has this happened to anyone else? Other Valpo applicants - what's been your experience so far?

Regardless, I'm very happy with the start to the cycle!

12.12.2009 -- IN at DU by e-mail. Looks like they sent out a mass mailing to all of the people in their first round of YES votes. AND . . . the best scholarship offer yet! I couldn't be more thrilled by these first three offers . . .

12.21.2009 -- Lots of good news last week from IIT, Loyola Chicago, University of San Francisco. In at all three. It looks like scholarship info from IIT ad Loyola will have to wait until later in the cycle.

USF made a really nice offer - the best yet as far as the first year is concerned . . . but it looks like it may not renew with each new year. Not sure on the details there. Other USF people - similar experience?

Couldn't be more elated at this point. Lots of options on the table. Happy holidays and best of luck to the rest of you. I'll check in again in January.

01.17.2010 -- Received a YES from QU. Great scholarship offer, too. There was a long silence during the holiday break, so it's good to have information flowing again - and good news at that!

Still waiting on GG and CU . . . really hoping to hear from them in the very near future. It's still possible that either one could rock the boat . . . but if things ended today I'd say I'm about 90% sure I can make a choice. Let's hope I can post that at some point in the next month or so!

01.21.2010 -- IN AT CU! I was begining to wonder about this one, but the letter came via post today. All things considered, a future in Colorado is looking very likely!

02.06.2010 -- In at GGU. Very excited to hear this . . . and far and away the best $$$ of the cycle. Last week I was finally ready to put down a deposit . . . and now? Hmmm . . . I'm going to need to think on this one.

No, I haven't heard anything from Quinnipiac, either. I submitted on 11/2 and they're the only school I haven't gotten anything from (well, not related to my application, anyway...). I'm sure it's totally appropriate to call them if you've been waiting a while. If I don't hear from them by next week I'll do the same.

They sent me an email two or three days after i submitted my app. notifying me that they received it. I never got any notification that it was complete though. If you haven't gotten an email yet, just email their office. They're pretty prompt when responding to emails. GL on the cycle.

Golden Gate will offer you a scholarship, they just don't make decisions until January or so. I persoannly really like the school, but it looks like you have a lot of options.

I personally have loved it, I am still waiting for my grades, which I really am anxious about, but up to this point I have no complaints other than the facilities could be nicer. The curve for the school is far 20% can get A's 70% B's and 10% have to get C's I remember reading things on the internet about the school kicking out half the class, but with that curb obviously they are not true and common sense would tell you that no school would want to kick out their students, because the bottom line is you are paying them and they want money. The best thing about the school is that there is no intense competition which some of my friends at Hasting's have said is brutal and intense. At GGU everybody is pretty supportive of eachother and there is even a tutor available to all the students aside from the professor's office hours, who are also very helpful. If you get Professor Sylvesster he is amazing with your numbers you might be able to specifically request him, but he is just by far the best teacher I have ever had. It is really supportive school and I have no complaints about it up to this point. I am one semester and really satisfied with my choice. My only complaint is I don't really like the adminstration like the Financial Aid Office etc, they get you everything you need, but I don't like the feel of the people in there. As far as professors and academic support I think the school is excellent and I feel I have learned a lot. If you want to know more you can e-mail me at RCGriffith67@yahoo.com since I check that address a lot more than I check this. If you really want to know more I will give you my phone # if you want to call me to ask direct questions.

I realized I didn't answer your HLP question. I don't know if you know how it works it is basically if you are in it you just take summer school and then don't have classes in the Fall of your next year. The reasoning for it is so that you won't be in competition with all the other bay area schools during the Fall, because you will have full availbility, while other students in Fall won't. I choose not to do that, because I want to work in Summer right away and get as much experience as I can. I want to apply what I learned ASAP to something practical, but a lot of people seem happy with the HLP program.

If you aren't attending Loyola can you please withdraw? I'm waitlisted at Loyola and it is my first choice! Thanks :-)
