I just wrote about growing up with one parent, and about how although I dont add to traditional diversity, i offer a unique perspective to the classroom, and I have a history of fostering interaction between diverse groups, which means that although I wont create more 'traditional diversity' I will help make more out of the diversity that is there.

You have really similar #s and we're applying to almost all the same places. Good luck!

In response to your question about Dean's Certs - yes, Stanford was the only school that required it as part of your application. Other schools (such as Columbia) *eventually* require it prior to matriculation should you be accepted and choose to attend.
