personal statement focused on not graduating from high school on time and how I was headed down the wrong road until my wife who is in medical school, inspired me to dream again, and how I am just happy to have the opportunity to apply to law school. 3 pgs. long

Univ. of Miami- acceptance came in yellowish standard envelope. I am very excited, always wanted to be a Cane!
mentioned scholarships go out in December and January. $14,500 scholarship that got lost in the mail. didn't find out till i went on a visit to the campus

St. Thomas- came to my permanent address in white standard envelope. no mention of scholarship

Barry University- came in white standard envelope. came with $10,000/yr scholarship renewable every year with a 2.8 gpa

Florida Coastal- came in thick white standard envelope. came with governors scholarship-$10,000/yr. renewable w/ a 3.0 gpa or top 30%. took so long because i was held due to having a general discharge under honorable conditions from the military

Mercer- came in skinny white standard envelope. was worried because they asked for another detailed explanation of my discharge, but i guess they understood i was immature at the time. $14,000 scholarship came on 01-21-06

John Marshall-Atlanta- came in big manila envelope. no mention of scholarship

Georgia State- online staus checker said "decision made." I entered my social and pin number on the accepted students website and it let me in. It had all of my information and classified me as a first year professional student.

University of Georgia- online status checker

i have found it odd that nobody else has mentioned one either but they sent their viewbook and spoke on minority issues and gave me a fee waiver. i appreciate the suggestion but id rather just let things play out than trying to manipulate them.

congrats!

general discharge
Saturday, September 10 2005 at 08:00 PM

i just mentioned my general discharge under honorable conditions to be on the safe side so it would not come back to bite me. read some military website that it was not the same as honorable. it hasn't hendered me so far except for these instances mentioned below: i spoke to an adcomm who said that they needed my ddform214. i sent it and a detailed explanation about my discharge. she said she would contact me the next day. did not hear for three weeks, so i spoke to another adcomm who told me i am on hold but should not be. he said he would fix it, but a week later it was still not fixed. called him and he told me to leave a message with the other lady, she did not call me back but a week later received letter w/ scholarship offer. mercer univ. also asked for further explanation besides my addendum i sent.
