Additional info & updates

Hello -
I am applying pretty late this cycle (due to December LSAT mainly), so will be casting a fairly wide net, so to speak :) A final tally - 23 schools! As the cycle is progressing, I am starting to feel that I might've really overdone it here, but as they say - better safe than sorry no?

1-29-07
My FIRST acceptance! I'm so excited! I found out via email after lunch. Wiiiiii!! I'm going to law school! :o)

2-02-07
In at NYU! This was a TOTAL shock - I never got a complete notice from them at all. SO excited because I am really interested in International Law so this is definitely a top choice for me.

2-06-07
Call and email from Faye Deal at Stanford! Completely dumbfounded at this one :) YAY!
In at U of Washington too!

2-09-07
Wow, this has truly been the best law school decision news! Can't ask for more than 6 decisions in one week :)

2-21-07
Monumental day! In at UPenn, which is awesome of course, but additionally! As of today, I now have decisions from more than 50% of my schools :) Sigh, I really really did apply to too many schools, and I will start withdrawing this weekend to schools that I know I will not go to.

Also, I just got (finally!) an academic LOR in today at LSDAS. Here's to hoping that some of the schools will actually get it before they render their final decision. I already had 3 letters, but all professional, and freaked out a little after reading how important academic letters are. But all acceptances to date have been without consideration of any academic LOR.

03-02-07
Got the infamous hold email from Boalt. Normally this would've left me sadder because I love Berkeley but today, I gave notice at work. Since then, I have had a perma-grin on my face, and really nothing could take me down from that today!

03-28-07
WL at UChicago today - finally getting down to the end, and I am so ready for that. I'm expecting no more good news from this point onward - very glad to be closer to making a decision !

04-23-07
Finally all done! Final tally 5 WL, 1 Rejection, and 17 Acceptances. Happy with the way my cycle went overall I do think I was hurt by not applying earlier for some of the WLs, but such is life. Deposit was sent to Stanford today.

04-28-07
Sigh. Wrote my final withdrawal form today for NYU. This was SO heartbreaking to have to do. I was so torn between NYU and Stanford, but I am coming more to terms with my decision now. I will just have to make sure I get to NYC for internships or something :)

06-04-07
I had thought my cycle was over, but at the last minute, the Harvard acceptance totally threw me for a loop. After a heart-wrenching two weeks -- I've decided to withdraw from Harvard and stick with Stanford. Mainly due to personal reasons - I love love Boston and would've loved Harvard. But my personal pulls toward Stanford outweighed the benefits for my situation. Withdrawal form has gone in - hopefully it opens up the seat for one more person!

We're as close to twins as I've seen, down to the lateness of our apps... D'oh! I'll be watching your LSN closely. Good luck!! BTW, patent law?

Hi EEtoJD -- Yes certainly considering patent law due to my background. But unlike you, I am not as certain about it :) Sometimes I feel that since I am making a career change, why just do a complete 180? I am also very interested in international law right now too. Anyways, I plan to keep my options open!

Wow--congrats on your success story. What do you think made you stand out in the eyes of the admission committee in terms of your background? (esp for Stanford). I have very similar background as you (number of work experience, research, internship, and a M.S. degree)...I am keeping my fingers crossed!
