Additional info & updates

Ok, so I may have gone a little overboard with the law school apps. Finally done with the applications...so now I get to play the waiting game. Really hoping my first letter is an acceptance!

1/27/10 - Accepted via mail by Duquesne. Very surprised to get accepted this early, especially since I never got a "complete" notification. But hey, no complaints here! Just happy to know I'm going to law school!

1/29/10 - Congratulations email from Hofstra!

2/1/10 - Letter from Duquesne. They are offering me a full tuition scholarship (renewable as long as I stay in the top 50% of my class). So very excited. Graduating from law school debt free? Duquesne is looking like a real possibility!

2/5/10 - Very thin envelope from George Mason. Oh well. They were definitely a long shot anyway.

2/8/10 - Decision mailed from Northeastern! Here's hoping I get a big envelope.

2/10/10 - Currently snowed in at work...but got a thick envelope from Northeastern offering a $8500/year scholarship and a thin envelope from Toledo (that turned out to be an acceptance!) Pretty quick turnaround from Toledo considering I submitted my app on 1/18. So all in all, a good day. Even if I do have to bunker down and sleep at work. :)

2/12/10 - Waitlisted via email at Penn State. Really bummed, since I thought it was a match school for me. Going to stay on the waitlist and see what happens.

2/14/10 - Accepted at DePaul! Missed the phone call, but then received an email from the Director of the Center of Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology. I'm definitely interested in IP law, and DePaul has a great program. I think I may have to schedule a trip to Chicago. :)

2/15/10 - Another acceptance! This time to Rutgers. I got two emails, the first one accepting me to their school and the second one with a scholarship offer of $8000 per year (as long as I keep a 3.0). Sounds pretty good to me!

2/16/10 - Checked both Temple's and Drexel's online status checkers. Seems like I've gone complete to Temple (again) today and went complete for a second time at Drexel yesterday (2/15). Hopefully this means I'll be hearing from them soon?

2/16/10 (later) - Got home from work and saw two large envelopes! One was my official acceptance from DePaul with a $15,000 per year scholarship (renewable as long as I keep a 3.2). The other one was my scholarship letter from Hofstra offering $25,000 per year (renewable as long as I stay in the top 40% of the class).

2/19/10 - T-shirt in the mail from DePaul! I love free stuff. :)

2/22/10 - Got in to Temple via online status checker! I'm so happy. I really didn't think I would get in (especially since law school predictor had me at an automatic deny). Also got in to St John's via mail with $22,500 per year renewed automatically if I stay in the top 50% of my class. AND I was waitlisted via email at Cardozo. I'm just happy not to be rejected outright. All in all, a good day.

2/24/10 - Waitlisted at American. Again, I'm happy to not be rejected outright, but I'm starting to wonder how easy it is to get off waitlists.

2/25/10 - Official acceptance packet from Temple! No money though. I wasn't really expecting any, but it would have been nice. But they are a state school, and with the in state tuition, they are still one of my cheapest options. Looking forward to ASD!

2/26/10 - Accepted to Pittsburgh! Great school, but no scholly (but I am on their scholarship waitlist).

2/27/10 - No law school mail today, but started withdrawing from schools I know I won't go to. Temple is my top pick at the moment, though that might change if I get any surprise acceptances...

3/4/10 - Accepted to Drexel! Got a phone call (that went to voicemail) and an email shortly after. And they're giving me a $20,000 yearly scholarship. Very nice. :)

3/5/10 - Accepted to Vermont via email!

3/6/10 - Accepted to Suffolk via snail mail. No money though...so I think I'll have to withdraw my app. I can't justify going to Suffolk without money when I've gotten into better schools with scholarships. And I'd prefer to be close to home.

3-20-10 - Busy week! This past week I was vacationing in San Diego (looooved it!), so I'm a little behind with updating everything. So here we go: accepted at Seton Hall with a $25,000 renewable scholarship, finally went under review at Villanova, decision rendered at San Diego, AND I was waitlisted at William and Mary. I know, I'm surprised too. But also very very happy. :)

3/24/10 - Withdrew my apps from every school I know I won't go to except the few I haven't heard from yet. Hey, I paid the app fee so the least they can do is give me a decision! Anyway, at this point I am planning on going to Temple (unless I get off of William and Mary's waitlist OR I get some good offers from those final three schools).

3/27/10 - Accepted to USD via mail!

4/21/10 - Got into Villanova (via their online status checker). No mention of money though...so I doubt I'd change my mind about Temple without money.

4/24/10 - OK, so a little confused now. I got the official acceptance letter in the mail from Villanova along with a renewable scholarship of $15,000. I can't believe it...I was convinced that even if they did accept me this late in the cycle, they wouldn't give me any money. So now it's come between Temple and Villanova. Planning a visit down to Villanova this week...maybe seeing their school will change my mind?

4/26/10 - Finally heard from Brooklyn...and was waitlisted. Sigh. So my final count is 15 acceptances, 5 waitlists, and only 1 rejection. Not too shabby!

4/28/10 - Just got back from visiting Villanova and I LOVED it! Back to being confused. Temple or Villanova???

5/3/10 - Now I'm definitely decided....I'm off to Villanova! It was a hard decision to make since both Temple and Villanova are great schools. But I'm happy with my choice and can't wait to start in August. Just a few more months to go!!

Thanks, I am waiting to hear back from a few schools but I am pretty sure I am going to Temple. Have you made any decisions?

This is very encouraging! After doing research, and comparing my GPA to those in non-engineering majors, I was getting nervous that my GPA would hold me back. I haven't taken the LSAT yet...one more year of undergrad to go(!) but this is great information to have in the back of my mind. Great job and thanks for the status updates!
