Additional info & updates

I cast a wide net, I know. Scholarships are in per year amounts!

Update 8/1- Visited Seton Hall, Albany, and Syracuse

Update 10/28 - Got my October LSAT Score back, received a 157! Improved 7 points, and 27 percentile points from 44th to 71st!! This is HUGE, will be adding Georgia, Wake, Colorado, W&M, and George Mason

Update 10/29 - Applied to 22 schools...thankfully got merit-based fee waivers from almost all of them.

Update 11/26 - Got into Mercer on 11/13 and into American on 11/22....would only attend either with BIG scholarships...

Update 12/7 - Got into Villanova, Rutgers, and Denver in the last week or so. Rutgers is huge because I qualify for in-state. I think I am waitlisted at Kentucky because the email was essentially we're holding your application for later.

Update 12/16 - Got into Seton Hall on the 13th, and into SLU today! SLU is offering 15,000 a year. Definitely sparking my interest!

Update 12/17 - Got the acceptance letter from Seton Hall today. Offered the Dean's Scholarship, $15,000 per year! Really makes it competitive.

Update 12/19 - Held for second review at GA State. Not quite a waitlist.

Update 12/23 - Accepted at South Carolina with a $20,000 scholarship, bringing the tuition from 44 to 24. Really enticing. Also, applied to four more schools: W&L, WashU, Ohio St, and UNC. UNC would be my absolute dream school.

Update 1/2 - First post holidays update. Rejected from George Mason. Not terribly unexpected.

Update 1/8 - Rejected from Georgia, accepted into Syracuse with scholarship to follow in the mail.

Update 1/14 - In at Syracuse with $33,000/year which is definitely a lot of money. That plus their new building makes it an attractive offer. I was also accepted at Louisville and Connecticut, as well as receiving 10,000 per year at Villanova. Things are really picking up as the semester begins!

Update 1/16 - Waitlisted at Washington & Lee. Surprising, they're ranked quite high.

Update 1/22 - Rejected at Boulder. I really would have made the move to go there, but alas, it wasn't meant to happen. No biggie though. Moving on.

Update 1/25 - Scholarship from Mercer. $15000/year with 76% average. Not an option at this point.

Update 2/5 - Rejected at Ohio State and Washington U a few days ago. Not surprising, really. I've narrowed my choices and will be visiting Villanova and possibly Penn State (where I just applied to) in the coming weeks. I'd say Seton Hall, Villanova, and Syracuse are my front runners right now.

Update 2/10 - Received $5,000 scholarship at American, $28,000 at Albany, and I got my $10,000 at Villanova increased to $18,000 which is incredible. Villanova is a serious choice now, unlike American or Albany.

Update 2/15 - Withdrew from Albany, American, and Mercer. Hoping to open up some seats to fellow LSNers.

Update 3/5 - Increased scholarship amount after an appeal letter to Seton Hall admission staff. Up from $15k to $25k.

Update 3/16 - It's been a while since my last update. Since then, I have visited Penn State, Villanova, Rutgers-Newark, and Seton Hall. Penn State waitlisted me, and I don't really want to live/work in the middle of Pennsylvania. Rutgers sucked, Seton Hall was plain and boring. Villanova raised my offer from $18k to $25k and I am very likely to end up there now. I will be attending ASD next Friday.

Update 4/13 - It's definite now. Villanova Class of 2017! The money and the location was too much for Seton Hall to match in my mind. Plus the Villanova nameplate is quite valuable. I have sent in my seat deposits. I hope you have enjoyed the ride as much as I have.

Similar stats, totally think you should throw some Hail Marys at top schools, can't hurt. I feel same way about American, I would go with scholarship but I don't know with my numbers if I'd get any. Good luck the rest of the cycle!

Congrats on the updates!

Hey Duffy, Congrats on Syracuse, Louisville, UConn and Villanova! All solid schools and wow a lot of $$ from Syracuse! How did the schools contact you and let you know of the $$?

thanks!

Thanks vcalarco. They all emailed for admissions decisions but sent letters for scholarship information. Lots from SU, I know!

Good luck!

Good luck the rest of the way! How did you like Seton Hall? I plan on visiting them soon after receiving a similar scholarship. Their proximity to NYC, scholarship and ranking are making it an enticing option.

Nice list of schools!

Congrats on your acceptances! Seton hall is a front runner for me. We have similar numbers but I was only offered 7,500 a year. Who did you send your appeal into and when did you do it? Thanks and good luck!

Congrats on the increase from SH! That is an incredible scholarship and I am sure very tempting. I am actually writing a letter to them now requesting an increase as well. How long of a turnaround did it take for you to hear back from them on your request?
